ECU boost leak & a trip to MRC!

Well this maybe a first, my ECU has a bosot leak in it.

I connected up a boost pipe to the ECU and as soon as it's connected vacuum dropped from 0.70 bar to 0.28 bar. There is an almight hiss from the ECU on boost and a faint one off boost.

Before you ask it's no the boost hose as when connected to a spare boost gauge i have there no leak in the hose.

I also changed the hose as a test to some industrial vacuum gauge with 2-3mm walls on the hose!

Whats inside the ECU that could leak?

Only the MAP sensor is in the ECU.
It's probably broke and that's why Tekkno bodged it up with the boost controller *****.
If you take your car to MrC for a proper remap he should be able to get you a new MAP sensor.

Yeah i checked mine the other day, just a little pipe work that weaves to the map sensor as stuart said. Maybe Tekkno blocked your mapsensor off as its not reading boost?

Good grief... The legacy of that boost controller lives on ehhh !

IIWU - I'd ditch the bloody lot and get it remapped by the Maestro himself with the ECU in control of boost, ignition and fuel - just as messers Bosch and Audi intended !

                  It's about time

Two options for the boost controller:

                  1) chuck it in the bin

                  2) advertise it on a Jap car forum. They love USB plug and play tuning parts

Is the ECU behind the glove box and is it this pipe that makes the groaning noise when it's been freezing overnight?

Mine makes this loud groaning noise in the cold which gradually goes away as the cab warms up. I noticed a drain? inside the A post and behind the carpet, could this be duff. ie not draining?

OR do I have to live with the noise on freezing days. Nothing seems to not work.

Flog that japcrap up on eBay - there be hundreds of punters with a scooby/evo/sunny/skyline or some other piece of 2nd rate junk (or sumthin or nuthin) just busting themselves to buy it off you. Tell them it can give them 1000bhp and they will bid higher for it.... Eeee-awh.

You know it makes sense mate !

Actually its not unheard of for that little pipe inside the ECU to split.
