So in summary the previous owner who waxed so lyrically on this site had the car sorted.
Glad to see its on the road to recovery.

        Bad rice. Not no rice!

1.52 units I've seen 1.50 units on a private test track with nearly 230bhp. Seem to remember 1.30 units up the private MRC test track with the standard S2, pre Miltek, during a very useful health check.

I want a remap. But then again I want a lot! A large hybrid or GT3071, RS2 IC & injectors, remainder of the miltek with a sport cat to keep the tree huggers happy and a 7a exhaust cam for starters. That should get the most out of my £500 of Mihnea magic!!! Going to be a while then! Perhaps "Project 350" might have to be started, next year, after I've replaced the remainder of the nuts and bolts on my car, and the bomb, and the front subframe and bushes, and had the old girl resprayed, and an RS2 FARB and a Whiteline RARB and and and and and... !!! I need a girlfriend to keep me in check!

He took the car in his own direction, i have no problems with that as the car was quick when i bought it.

I'm taking the car in a different direction.

This all started because i bought VAG-Com and the car was throwing up codes some big ones at that.

After today's trip to MRC it gave no fault codes.

It can do more, it can run more boost, reverse intake manifold, strong rods but for now i'll leave it as it is until so i can see how it performs over the next week.

Nice one Jamo and thanks for the write up, you echo my experience of those good guys at MRC.
I really agree with you about the feel of the WOT ECU controlled boost. My ur runs a 1Bar spring and all 1Bar is available at part throttle, you just modulate the amount of power with the pedal, the S2 isn't like this, its as though nothing much happens after half throttle then you get a big gob of power at WOT which can be a bit sudden in a lot of situations. I was asking Mihnea if he could map the throttle pot to gradually increase the boost from 50% up to WOT, I think that would make the car more drivable in real life situations, otherwise I was thinking of disconnecting the WGFV and throwing in a 2Bar spring, that should do it

Or I spose a boost controller would work?

Oh yeah, did Mihnea say whether the timing is affected by boost or not? Again in the ur the ECU only does the timing and the boost connection is crucial to avoid pinging.

I didn't ask, but boost and timing are on seperate chips in an S2 ecu.

Was just thinking, could a split leaking hose in to the ECU be causing Robatron's current lack of full boost?

Well that was my old IC, and i never drilled any holes in it! I spoke to Doug recently and he told me about your car Jamo. Glad its on the way to being sorted.

Just a quick note tho, why do you want loads of boost at part throttle? surely that would make the car bad on fuel trying to drive normally. ******ed if i want full boost on part throttle, would send me sideways!

Its not so much that, more like 1bar at 1/2 throttle then no more action untill WOT when suddenly you have nearly 2Bar, it would be nice to split that into a few steps to make it easier to drive. Just to be more progressive, you cannot modulate the extra boost, its all or nothing.

Jamo - I won't say I told you so, but your ECU was one sorry sight ! The MRC crew would have been hard pushed to miss that one

That funky turbo you have should indeed be capable of more... As for max boost at part throttle - whats that all about ? The throttle pedal is a pretty intuitive way for the driver to demand boost I would say... Thats why boost regulation on Motronic is related to throttle position - needs to be done right so as to avoid lag when you go from half throttle to WOT, but as Tom rightly says - how can you get decent mileage when cruising about if the turbo keeps trying to generate max boost - not at steady state throttle of course, but all that boost from every junction, roundabout and gear change is great when you need to go quickly but gotta be tough on your wallet !

The best S2 is smooooooooooth S2 - good luck with the new software and eBay still beckons for that rice-ridden boost controller - you know it makes sense !
