Inspect the lower cambelt pulley carefully, it’s common for the keyway to be broken, recommended to fit a new one anyway. There’s a billet steel one available from Terrybullwon on here.
cam belt position is looking odd

I've seen several broken keyways on bottom pully's over the years and I'm always extremely uncomfortable reusing an old one even if it still looks okay. I've always a used a new one on my own vehicle's of the billet type John suggest above, they can be reused time and time again and there zero risk of them causing problems.
The cambelt should not be as far forward as in your pic's, something is causing yours to run out of line, as it is it will rub on the back of the vibration damper and that's obviously not good. It's okay for it be on the edge of the pully's but not over hanging them.1990 B3 2.0 80 quattro.

As o understand why they get broken , is it not a part of that people have change the belt and not have had correct tools when tighten. So the pressure when tighten is on the sprocket. Will order a steel one. There is somebody making steel ones here in sweden to. Will check. Whats the price on the sprocket ?Comment

It’s been a long time since I purchased one but seem to recall they were around £100. They really are the best way to go if you’re planning on keeping the car long term.
I believe Tommi’s in Sweden also does a really good one.

Currently £160 including postage to UK forum memebers. Inclusive of UK VAT.
If its a export less the VAT £124 plus shipping.
This is not relivant to your belt position but the older dalh back pulley you have. Please check the belt / tooth patten.

Glad I held on to the one from my 3B, it's going on my RS2 when I change the belt on that, the one on there has only done 10K but it's probably knocking on for ten years old now. The price of everything seem to have gone crazy so you have to charge what you have to and yours are particularly nice quality.
I agree, he really needs to sort out the position of that belt, something is causing it to run excessively far forward, I would suspect the the cam pully as it's not OE, but that's not to say it is the problem. Could be missing the fancy diamond coated washer or the water pump could be badly located or defective.1990 B3 2.0 80 quattro.

Tooth pattern looks fine to me, but would also like Chef's opinion as he really knows his stuff regarding this.
Can I ask why your running an adjustable pully, is it to get better performance from 7A or other non standard cams? I'm not for a moment saying this is wrong, just interested.
Do you know if the belt was running on the pulleys properly before you started stripping it down, I guess until you took the covers off you didn't have any idea?
Could you try a stock top pully to help rule out the adjustable one?
Sorry for all the questions and appreciate there is a language barrier, just want as much info as possible to help narrow things down.
Gate's belts are very good quality same as OE.
Once you get the bottom cam belt pully off there should a thin 'diamond coated' washer behind it on the nose of the crank, if this is missing it could possibly be the problem as the belt will be running a touch out of alignment causing it walk forward. Set it on the timing marks and pop the belt off to find out.1990 B3 2.0 80 quattro.

I bought the car like that. It is more aggressive custom cams. It is cat cams. I have gone threw the engine completly. I appreciate that i get questions of things that means that its easier to come to some answer. There were now front cover on it. Never noticed it before. I will start with changing the bottom one on the crank first. I have ordered from terrybullwon today. I will do one change and then another change ortherwise its difficult to find the problem. If the crank bolt is ok in the threads there is no reason to change it as i have talked with a couple of racers. In case i change my mind , where can i find the bolt ? I dont now how many time the bolt has been used for example.Tooth pattern looks fine to me, but would also like Chef's opinion as he really knows his stuff regarding this.

The belt runs now good after i have changed the waterpump and tensioner wheel on the camshaft , tensioner and waterpump, it did not do that before. So probably a combo of old belt and something else of the changed stuff. Now i will change crank shaft sprocket and then i now everything is new , even if the cam sprocket is crocked on someway it should not give a problem on the crank shaft sprocket.
So behind the bottom cam belt pulley there should be a thin washer , there is a thick washer , like 4mm in front of pulley. That should be there correct ??
Where can i buy the washer ? Something special with that ? Better to order a washer and a bolt ,is there a OEM nr on those 2 things ?
Thanks a lot guysComment

Glad to hear the belt is running okay now you've changed the water pump, that was one of the things I thought could be causing it to run too far forward.
It's very sensible to just change one thing at a time so you're going about things the right way.
Yep, behind the bottom cam belt pully there should be a thin washer, which is diamond coated and stupidly expensive, it's been few years since I did a belt on an ABY/ADU and I honestly can't remember if there's a thick washer in front of the pulley or not. However my memory says no there isn't one and I can't find one on any of the diagrams I've just looked up, just an 18mm bolt with a shouldered head. Maybe Dave or someone else who's done the job on an ABY/ADU more recently can chime in here.
As for obtaining new parts again as it's been a few years since I've done one I'm not sure what the best sources are now, I always used to buy everything from Audi as I have a trade account with them so the prices weren't so silly as a rule. However Febi did offer a replacement bolt for a reasonable price so perhaps somewhere like Autodoc would be a good start.
As long as the current bolt is in good condition it should be fine to reuse it, just get it nice and clean and very lightly oil it.

Only the diamond washer should be there as Kit says. It's nla but a guy in Germany makes them and available on ebay.de.
The bolt was still available at Audi Tradition last year. I don't recommend the febi bolt as the collar is much smaller.
