I was told 078903015A could be an option. More information on that Alternator can be found on my build thread. https://www.s2forum.com/forum/member...58#post2112158

      I too have 078903015A (Bosch
0120465008). It is a straight fit. For the information I have, these MIGHT be an option too:

      054903015K (Bosch 0986038180)

      077903015F/K/L/P
      (Bosch 0 123 520 019/021/26/031)

Also, any Bosch alternator should be reliable, at least when rebuilt. Be careful if you look from eBay with oe/bosch number, they might try to offer you a cheap alternative that the oe number is just a cross reference to.

I believe the V6 engine cars use an 120 amp alternator that's interchangeable with some minor adjustments.

120A is what ABY had from the factory. 078903015A is from a V6 (if I remember correctly) and it is too a 120A alternator. Also I've heard that a 150A alternator from a D2 S8/A8 should fit (the 077 prefix numbers)

Literally no reason for 150A alternator on these vehicles.

Propably not, but it can be done.

From what I've looked now there is a very wide variety of alternators that can be fitted to our cars. Some have different plastic housing at the rear, but that can be left as is or you can change that from your previous alternator.

There is a couple of used 078903015A versions for sale at bildelbasen.se, many of them on eBay. Very reasonable pricing on used ones and easy enough to service if needed.

If you do, and fit massive loads to the system, ensure your battery --> alternator cable is rated for it, it is unfused and will likely catch fire.

A battery can only take ~25A peak charge, so you won't see any benefit in that respect.

Its a little bit like having 500cubic cm per minute fuel pumping capacity when you only use 100.

The 7A has a 90amp alternator, I've never felt like im short of charging ability. Just curious as to what extra electricity circuits does the ABY s2 have to need the extra 30amps?

Doesn't the radiator fan use a ridiculous amount of amps It certainly causes the engine revs to jump when it kicks in
