  • 3b timing belt tensioner in place of roller on oil pump

Hey all!! I have a 2 bennett serpentine setup on my b2 20vt. this setup uses an AAN waterpump..so adjustment, a 3b belt and no tensioner at all. Ironically the 3b belt is perfect tension. THat said, Id like to add a vw 8v tensioner in place of the oe roller on the pump. what are peoples thoughts here? any issues with drilling the block for the larger bolt? I know this is how the stroer guys get the tensioner integrated, but thats a different block.

The 3B uses the waterpump as the tensioner, it has slots instead of holes. I saw a picture the other day where they were using a relay roller off another Audi that looked the same as the 3B one but had an eccentric adjuster in the middle, I think it was from the 2.0 16v ACE engine.

I've ordered one, I have a stroker block but a 3B oil pump, I'll report back when I've trial fitted it.
