    Bosch M2.3.2 ECM help

    Hi all,
still work in progress with the non start RS2.
I'm trying to communicate with the ECM on the bench but have no comms on the k-line pin, do i need to connect the L-line also? Using VCDS on the diag socket in the fuse box i can talk to some modules but not the ECM, i see a burst of data on the kline ECXM connection when i cycle the ignition switch but nothing else.
Can anyone help with how to confirm comms with the ECM?

    thanks

My Vagcom dongle connects to the fuse box via a 2x2 converter plug, both K and L get connected, as to whether they're both in use, I'm not sure.

Have you looked inside the ECU? Does it have stock RS2 chips in it?
If you're not sure put up some pics.

PS. If the ECU is socketed for the EPROMS it is almost certainly not stock.

Hi, I did remove the ecu cover and it does have socketed chips I could see which I assumed wasn't standard.

If you can read the labels on the chips that might help give some clues.

If by some fluke the ECU has been tuned by PRJ, and converted to PRJMod, you have to hold the throttle WOT while turning on the ignition to switch to Vagcom. Otherwise the K/L lines are used for logging data.

        Worth a try!

          Good info Newsh.
I'm fairly certain its an ecu issue so what i'm going to try is using an Ignitron ECU i have here which is designed as a plug and play ME7 replacement but i think i can make it work with the 2.2 5cyl, at least to prove the original ecu is the issue. I'll report back here once i've tried it :-)
