This type of setup is what I was hoping would be a nice balance in the mechanical vs N75 debate (nice to see that's a sticky now)... increased mechanical but also with a bit of ECU controlled boost on top. Have I interpreted this right... 0.9bar mechanical (versus 0.4bar stock) with a top-up of ~0.7bar from the N75, giving a total of ~1.6bar? I don't like this psi stuff, other than for tyres.

Exactly, and most every Audi wastegate spring we've sold and have seen sold have always been referenced absolute - however, a little deductive reasoning usually clears any confusion in most situationsnow we all know why psi is insufficient as a unit without reference, unless...how about psig and psia??? psi boost is usually interpreted as gage pressure, but when bar is referenced as a unit, boost may or may not be added to the unit, and this is where the confusion lies. what to assume if there is no modifier? well, i say absolute because my audi digital display shows my boost pressure this way, not gage pressure.

Exactly, the increased spring pressure gives faster boost ramping and the need for less control from the ECU, mechanical spring pressure is nice, but allowing the ECU a certain amount of control allows it to control boost according to how the ECU was tuned - its the best of both worlds really. This type of setup is what I was hoping would be a nice balance in the mechanical vs N75 debate (nice to see that's a sticky now)... increased mechanical but also with a bit of ECU controlled boost on top. Come on Jamo, you should know these Americans by now. Using measurements like psi and absolute pressure sounds bigger.

Hmm...my german car displays absolute pressure in the digital display...or was that just a US-only feature to enlarge our already inflated egos??? And, my friend's 944 turbo does the same thing, except it is an analog gauge. Units can be converted; unknown reference levels must be 'deductively reasoned' or assumed, sometimes incorrectly, as we have seen...

Unfortunately, all measurements are "relative" unless properly contextualized, as this thread exemplifies perfectly

i already have most of the parts provided by 034 motorsport in this kit,and the only issue i find is that when i tried to use the 1.9bar wastegate spring with the wastegate original setup concerning the screw on top,the car overboosted at 2.2bar!!! Which is why we ended up not using it.We stayed on OEM spring. Will be interesting to see how this is managed.
The nice thing about these chips is that they are made for 91-93 octane fuels which means that when in europe one uses 98 octane, the advance will give him a nice difference in HP.
By the way 350 reffered is whp not bhp.Comment

Now I am confused that would mean the spring is relative, ah forget I staying on my the fence

Octane rating in the US is different from what is used in Europe. 93 octane in the US is very close to 98 octane in Europe.1995 RS2 on Alcohol (6.8sec 100-200km/h)
