We have made an enhancement so that old threads should now link from search results to the correct thread. This is not yet in place for single post links
this is the exact same engine that jonus drove, with 800+hp and no probs. So i would say thats prof. And some one asked if there was a stroker for sale, and i replyed i have one, no need to say bad stuff about engines that one, has not seen or letalone tried and tested.

There is a stroker with the short pistons that blew up on the forum from Aronmatic.
We are not discusing your engine or giving it a bad name merely giving Newsh all angles and being objective about what stroker is best for his goals.
Yes, tall block is the key here. Tall block requires long rod. 144mm is not considered as such.
144mm rod and 95.5 stroke crank are not compatible. Most certainly not for 1000hp, sad but true.
No doubt the tall block is better when it comes to extremly high hp levels, both rod/stroke ratio and strenght of block itself!
But I am not sure if I fully agree that 144mm rod and 95.5 stroke are NOT compatible. I know more than one engine with 600-800hp levels that have run very well for a long time with such setup.
Jonus also used short block with 95,5 cranck in the 2004 season. With best time 1/4mile 10.07 and 238km/t. That engine was never dynoed but my guess is that it had very close to 1000hp.
That said: it was not a daily driver, but was driven in a lot of track and dragracing events.
In my opinion the big question when builiding high level hp engine is: Do you want an engine that runs 30000km a year for let say 5-6years without any problems?? Or a trackday racer with 5-10 000km a year with frequent service intervals??
i agree, he needs to find what he wants and go for that route. But to my remembrence, is there not a company in usa or something, can not find the link. That sells new both long and short block 5cyl engines
They werent that expencive either i think

On the Eurospec site when they use the term "short block" normally that means an engine without the head and ancilliaries, or does it mean as in the height of the block to differenciate it from the taller diesel block?
So, if I was going for a "tall" block using a diesel block and crank from a van and bored to give 2.6L and running a 3071 on RS2 style mani and 3" turboback, what comp ratio would be best, bearing in mind I want good low and midrange.
I'm also tempted to use 3B cams for the instant pickup.
And where can I study the mods I need to do to the block?
I guess Pisobiker's thread would be a good start?
Here's the basic spec from the Red Baron S6 thread on Motorgeek.
This car sounds like it goes really well but if its a 2.6 short deck it must be running the 144 rods, right? Mmm. still lots to read, wish I could read Norwegian (if thats what it is )
I'm thinking GT3071 with an airbox and about 500HP so I should be alright with this short rod 2.6 setup I think.. May have to go for a reversed IM as well ..
Those who visited me a few months ago saw this car in stock form, here's a "teaser" since its getting very close to completion. Wink
