Perhaps its time to stop using Tescoo 99ron and start using shell?

The only time I got a consistent lack of go was the WGFV. It proved difficult to track down the exact problem as the wiring to the plug had broken. So check the wiring to the plug is OK under the rubber shroud.

Also sounds like the knock sensors could be playing up. Especially if its intermittent.
Mine was like that for a while, it would boost to peak and then suddenly drop to .4-.5. it always felt like it was holding back loads almost like mild engine breaking.

Turned out both the knock sensors had stripped cabling and once i replaced this it cured the problem completely.

Its work a try imo... alt least have a look at them.

          Cheers.

How audible is the click? I blipped the throttle whilst under the bonnet but heard nothing. I touched the valve and felt a very faint clicking but I wasn't completely sure that it was the WGFV clicking.

I shall get someone else to blip the throttle whilst I have a proper look/listen. It is looking like the likely candidate at the moment.

Jees - just do the output test for WGFV - do it on VAGCOM or with jumper on OBD plugs.... Same jumper as for blink codes. Put it in place with key OFF, then turn key ON and you are into output test mode.

A boost guage is your friend - if you see ~0.4bar max then the WGFV is asleep !

The wiring plug to the WGFV is in a tight location - have seen a few frawed hoods in there over time.... Causing bad connections etc

Oh and check all the fuses too - S2central.net tells you which one for WGFV in the technical section

Paul mine passed the vagcom output test at MRC then when repeated it didn't !! Caused some confusion as the wiring would make a connection until we physically inspected it

Mine felt like it was holding back at the weekend and wasn't making full boost, just felt flat, Found it was the hose at the back of the engine bay for the IM, idle valve and inlet pipe that was leaking and it blew a fine oily mess over the spark plug cover, got it sorted now. When you say the engine gets louder at WOT how loud?

I have no idea how to do an output test for the Car as I don't know what to do with the jumpers. I don't have VAGCOM either.

Its too dark for me to check the connection to the WGFV at the moment, but I shall check it out tomorrow. Am I right in saying that the fuse is in slot26 (listed as S26 on s2 central)? I ask because if so it seems to share the same fuse as the water pump.

Pete, its only louder due to induction roar when I give it WOT.

The car was missing a fair bit on idle too.

If it is missing at idle then I very much suspect that is your problem. Check all your ignition system and let us know what you have found.

                              Cheers,

                              Steve.

Codes? Output tests? How much boost?
Eh? How can you not have a boost gauge? Start with the free to check things first. Trial and error fixing can get expensive.
