Not having Vag-Com is no excuse with a 3B. I've never used it on mine, although it does come in handy for the 8Ls.
Yeah, I've been using the "blinks" for years, got a cheep adaptor off the bay and got it going but had a couple of blue screen issues with my laptop so took it off again, I can't be having that.. I might try it on an old Toughbook I've got though, has a serial port..
I took the car on a round trip to maidenhead today which took about 50 minutes and as expected, the performance was completely lacking. However I had to stop off on the way back to work to pick up some film work.
I left the car for all of 5 minutes in which time the car had a minimal amount of time to cool down. I got to the series of roundabouts about half a mile down the road and stuck my foot down only for the car to hit full boost and scream off down the road. I tried the same at the next roundabout but it wasn't interested and I haven't been able to get anything from it since.
So it would appear that if the car is thoroughly warmed up, then left to sit for a few minutes with the engine off that it will be more likely to boost when I start up again....odd behaviour!
Ooh, nasty intermittent behaviour, must be a loose connection or something, or unless the heat soak from sitting for 5mins made some gap seal up temporarily?
I still think you've either got a leak, or some plug is not quite re-plugged correctly - could still be related to the re-spray?
Ex S2 owner, now running around in an A4 Avant quattro...
You could well be right regarding the respray, but the only thing they *should* have touched was the battery terminal. They told me that the battery went flat whilst they had it and they had to connect it to a charger. Since having it back the ABS light has been on but I haven't had the chance to find anyone with VAGCOM to find out exactly what is wrong with it (more to do with my own time constraints than anything).
I'm hoping that John may be able to give me some insight into the ABS and any other fault codes that are thrown out. I went to see the garage in maidenhead today and said I wasn't happy about the ABS light being on and that if anything is going to be replaced it will be done at their expense. They apparently took the back wheels off so I wonder if they caught one of the ABS sensors...?
Anyway, I'm hoping that this saturday shall be quiet useful!
