    Wiring diagrems for ABY S2??

I`ve just bought a DTA S100 ecu and im starting on the engine loom.

I was just wondering if anyone had a diagram of the wiring for an ABY as im trying to work out the ignition system at the mo.

Im assuming on the two ignition modules (with three channels each) the 7th terminal on each of them is ground.

And on each coil with two wires, one is switched live and the other goes to the corresponding channel on the two modules leaving one channel spare (and i assume the coils must be earthed through the bolts that hold them onto the cam cover).

    Thanks.

The ignition signals fron the ECU to the power stages are the following wires.

        Cylinder 1 = Black/Blue
        Cylinder 2 = Pink
        cylinder 3 = green /white
        Cylinder 4 = Red/Black?
        Cylinder 5 = Green?

The last two could be the wrong way around but it doesent matter because i`m making a loom from scratch.

also the coils must earth through the bolts holding them down because the diagram shows 3 wires and the spark plug but there`s only two wires actually coming off the coils

I have an ABY loom all tagged up and labelled (one of those jobs from a cold winters night of old) if you need anything checked up on yours. That RS2 schematic is polly OK, but there may be the odd wiring colour difference here and there.

DOes that ECU have the smarts to drive five sequential injectors and five coil packs ?

          What about knock support ?

Just interested - good luck !

It`s a clever ECU it can run 10 coil on plug (sequential) ignition channels and 10 sequential injeclors.

I`ll only be using half of the ignition channels and im running two sets of batch fire injectors, five in stock location and five outboard.

Im not running any sequential injectors even tho the ECU could run them, i think there is only a small gain to be had for a lot of hassle.

              POS-1 (N122) is for cyls 1 - 3 but the pin numbering is *** backwards -

              I3 (pin 4) is green/white for #1
I2 (pin 3) is lilac (pink) for #2
              I1 (pin 1) is black/blue for #3

POS-2 (N127) is the same 3-channel device with only two used as follows -

              I3 (pin 4) is red/black for #4
              I2 (pin 3) is green for #5

NOTE - The coilpacks have an earth strap that runs from the coilpack carrier to one of the camcover head studs for a good earth point.

                No knock support either.

i was going to wire up a dash light through a knock sensor but i think i`ll hear it just fine

The order doesent matter tho, as i`ll wire them up accordingly.

You'll be doing darn well to hear knock with a carpet full of boost - nigh on impossible unless its really pinking badly.

In fairness though - knock sensors are notoriously hard to get the sensitivity right - so it doesn't surprise that almost none of the aftermarket ECUs support it - and I've always been dubious about how good a job the Bosch Motronic does at knock detection - especially with umpteen year old sensors !

I used Pauls S2Central site ( nice one paul) when I wired my aby up. Made the task a million times less difficult.
Trust me you wont hear a thing in your car except for the turbo spooling up and the exhaust.

Hi Sal, not got round to mounting it yet i know it hits the IM so i`ll be doing a bit of fettleing to get it to fit.

i`ll might wire a bulb through the knock sensor then, apparently you get a load of other noise through but inspecting the plugs should tell the difference from phantom noise and real knock.

LOL - carpet seems to be one luxury less to worry about there then !

If you want to wire up a knock sensor circuit you'll need something adjustable for gain and sensitivity becuase as you say - it will otherwise pickup all sorts of noises round the engine that could be falsely interpreted as knock... I think that is why the aftermarket avoids this area - just too tricky to fine tune across a wide range of engines.

As you say - a careful eye on plug colours and EGT will help you.

Paul, do you know what the crank angles are, starting from cylinder 1, at 0 degrees.

And i assumed the crank sensors and cam sensors were magnetic, but they have 3 wires each so it looks like they`re both hall effect and require 5 volts. Could you confirm this??
