I cant for the life of me imagine that that is running 400bhp. It looks far too standard to me. A lack of reciepts seems dodgy reaching 400bhp on these cars ain't cheap and everyone I know who has done it likes to keep the proof of it. Plus the intake as Ross said is a standard hose which means it cant have a larger turbo unless that hose has been cut back dodgily.
Good point with regards to the intake turbo hose, hadn't considered that. All will become apparant tomorrow.
Its the bit in the advert that sais uprated spark plugs and much more that makes me chuckle. I think I would concentrate on detailing the 'much more' than detaling uprated spark plugs. But got to give this seller benfit of the doubt.!
Standard RS2 injectors have green tops, like Paul said most uprated bosch units have the green tops. That said I have uprated siemens injectors and they are all black but are pencil thin. Standard 3B injectors are all black but farely bulking looking

Do NOT rush into buying an S2 or RS2 - they are curiously complex and precious little is known about them in the general circles of car owners and the public domain - except of course S2central.net and this place... Both of which I am guilty of starting cos I love the S2 and got really frustrated after I bought one that it was so hard to find anything really useful about them.
This forum is huge - but it is ALL here - well almost. You just need to take some time to get yourself in the know. Actually start with s2central.net - its not as organised as I would like - or as complete - but its a good starting point. Actually so is www.s2-audi.co.uk - its got very useful info as well.
There is always an S2 for sale somewhere. There are some absolutely fantastic ones owned by forum members here in the UK, across Europe and beyond. There are also some dog rough examples kicking around that could be turned into belters without spending a fortune.
There is a lot to learn, and I know its frustrating - but be thankful you are looking for one now and not more than 7 yrs ago.
Use the search function before asking lots of questions, but by all means post up Q's if you need more help or clarification on things.

Thanks for all the info and friendly advice. Anyway thought I would give you an update as to todays events. I went to buy the car with the knowledge given and done a HPI just before I went.
I will be diplomatic and give the seller benefit of doubt as he didn't seem mechanically minded and got the feeling his mate might well had led him astray a little. I have also given him a print of this thread and my HPI report and pointed him in the direction of this forum so very possibly will be reading this.
But basically on a plus point the bodywork is better than the pics show. The paint is nice and red with a good gloss to it, just the scratch at the rear and mark at the front leading into drivers door and big chip in bonner worth any kind of note, but certainly not dog rough from the outside or in.
But with regards to the mods, mechanics and receipts. Its basically a bog standard early S2 running possibly a off the peg chip. It has standard injectors, manifold, intercooler, exhuast, turbo, cams, etc. The handwritten receipt from an unkown company on a scrapy A5 bit of paper suggests its had a replacement modified turbo of some description as well as mention of a chip and what i would term as gerneral maintenance stuff which does add up to a hefty £2800 bill. But would have to take this receipt with a pinch of salt.
The seller claimed to have had all the claimed mods done by either him or largely by a friend.
The turbo looks like its been on the car since it came out of the factory as does everything else.
So in quick summmary a standard S2 with an induction kit and possibly a chip.
Despite telling the seller from the outset I won't be buying it, and gave him a crash course on the mechanics of the car. He was still willing to take us out in it possibly thinking that i might change my mind and think the car was running 400bhp.
Took us up the road and it does have a very noisy n/s front wheel bearing or diff. But did pull cleanly through the gears. He gave it a good blap up a dual carriaway, but alas the performance was IMHO 220bhp maybe 250bhp. I drove over with the missus in her car a standard GSI 2.0turbo Zafira (200bhp), and the Zafira felt just as quick and TBH the Zafira felt more urgent than the S2. My current car M3 Evo convertible would destroy it, and my previous tunned jap stuff would make it look like its standing still. So certainly not a 400bhp, and would place it in the 200-250bhp area.
I was specifically tempted for the 400bhp and mods. But on the plus side I did think it wasn't a bad buy for a stock S2, and in general as a car was impressed with the S2. It feels solid and can see the attraction of these cars. Just not this one for me. If this one was sold for what it is, i would say its worth the 2 - 2.5K price tag so a shame in a way it tried to be sold as something else.
If anyone is interested in this car I would strongly suggest a HPI as this does suggest some other anomolies as well, but again could be in innocence, and would need further investigation.
I guess I will have to stick with my M3 Evo Cab for now, and keep my eyes peeled in the classifieds for S2,s and certainly a car I would consider if it was running 400+ BHP.
It as worth a look and or the right person at the right price is still worth looking at. It could just as easlily been an overlooked serious bargain and rocket but sadly not.
