    Check List:

Ignition. (From connectors to Plugs) Done.

Vacuum leaks. (2.1 to 2.2bar indicated but will check again)

    MAF.

ECU. (Inc 3bar Map sensor and tubes, etc)

    ECU Water Trap.

    ECU Codes.

    Throttle Position Switch.

Dump Valve. ((New AMD valve fitted) did not check the hose to the steel pipe though)

    Waistgate. (Diaphragm + Setup)

    Waistgate Frequency Valve.

    Knock Sensors.

    Fuel Pump.

    Fuel Filter.

    RPM and Timing Sensors.

Air Filter. (New K& N) Done.

    Fuel Pressure Regulator.

    Engine Tune.

    Oxygen Sensor.

    Have I missed anything?

Lastly, can you get a gasket that goes between the waist gate and the manifold? Although the joint is metal to metal, you can see a bit of exhaust gas escape (Black dust, etc) from the joint face. Torqued up OK. Might need longer studs though! (+5mm)

    I have been onto “http://www.carbulbs-direct.com/u280-...anner-34-p.asp “They do a “U280, U281 and a U581” Will they all work? As I would tent to get a ‘U581’ or a U281’

Oh, before I forget, what is the best ‘N75’ Waistgate frequency valve for applications up to say “RS2” power levels? (For a 97 URS6) Should I get a standard version or an alternative manufacture? (034, N75, etc)

What have you checked on the MAF?

When did you fit the K&N?

K&N About '6' months old but no change as it did the issue beforehand. MAF have to get round to that but any pointers will be very well received.

I have a good DVM and can get hold of stabilized power supply, etc.

          Regards,

          Andy h.

MAF diagnostic method can be found on the s2-central site.

I would get rid of the K&N as a matter of course. You need a non-oiled type of filter. Standard paper/gauze cotton is better than the K&N overall.

K&N also gunges up the MAF wires.

I can get cheap MAFs if needed.

Had a look a few bits ‘n’ bobs.

              Waistgate Frequency Valve:

Apart from looking like a piece of scrap (Bent and Corroded) and orientated incorrectly, the WGFV is not the correct one for my car. (URS6 = 034 906 283H) mine is a K (Not my fault!! I bought it like this). (i.e. ADU & ABY, late S2 and RS2) That would answer why it does not sit properly with the rubber turbo intake hose.
So what do you all suggest as a replacement . New that is original (H) or alternative??

              Waistgate assembly:
Diaphragm is OK and fully intact but the top portion of the Waistgate looks like somebody has had a pair of ‘Mole grips’ on the adjustment spindle inside, above the spring and it looks a right mess inside. So, this will need replacing.
What spring type should I use? I do not know if the one fitted is the original or something else! There are no dabs of paint on it or other marks so it could be any specification. (I have a MTM phase one conversion so that might dictate what spring value I should use?)

              Mass Airflow sensor:
The MAF little sensor is as black as the ace of spades and greasy too. I have chucked the K&N and will replace the filter for a ‘non oiled type. (What filter, standard Audi or an other type??? Piper X??) The fine wire behind what looks like a strain gauge is a nice light brown colour, so I am assuming that’s the ‘Hot Wire’ and is OK. One of the wire mesh protectors is holed so I will get a new one of those as well.

Now the front washer pump motor has packed in!!!! Why could it not be the fuse, why the pump!!

              Ba,

              Andy H

I'm not 100% but I don't think that there would be any real difference.

Mmmmm . That doesn't sound too good. Mechanical boost alterations (wastegat springs etc), are, IIRC, not the best thing for our cars. Unless different turbos, stronger internals etc are being used. IIRC it's an easy way of increasing boost but has many downsides.

I use piperX and I'm happy with that. Some people are happy with the OE stuff. I'd recommend you use OE till all of your problems are solved.
You gonna clean it or replace it? Drop me a PM if you want a replacement for a good price.
I have used brake/clutch cleaner with a fine mist spray head to clean the MAF in the past. Works well, unless the MAF is knackered.

Nothing wrong with the standard wgfv, might be an idea to source yourself a used wastegate cap and spring that hasn't been messed with.

The Waste gate will have to go back together for the time being but the diaphragm is OK (No pressure loss) I am after a standard Waistgate top casting with the adjustment screw but must not be damaged in any way. ((What do other URS4/S6 owner’s wastegate have as their Audi Part number?) Top of mine defective one '035 145 725 A')

However, just for the time being as I have seen wastegates with no adjustment screw?! how do you initially set one up? ((Final setting up to be done by a tuner) half in, flush?)

Lastly, WFV, orientation. Mine is not the correct the one for my S6 and full of oil but I think it was fitted the wrong way round as well. Any pictures of a correct setup. (I will buy a new ‘H’ just to make as standard again. £35)

Hold your horses there Andy. The N75 "K" valve is the RS2 N75 and is THE upgrade from the "H". I have a K sitting in front of me waiting to go into my RS2'd 93 AAN S4. And yes, it does not sit in there like the "H" but that is no big deal. Anything anybody (e.g. 034) is going to sell you as an upgrade, is the "K". Having said that your N75 might be broken. (There must be a test somewhere, e.g. Bentley).

                        More new bits!!!

The car has now decided that it needs a new oil switch. At least this will be cheap compared to the new MAF and other bits I have bought recently. (Front under tray £110)

However, the wastegate has obviously been messed about with in the past and Audi wants £830 + Vat for a new one. (No chance) All I want is the top cover, to get rid of the wrecked adjustment screw. I have seen UrS4/S6 cars with either the sealed wastegate or the adjustable one, which is correct? Either way, has anybody got a ‘as new’ (ish) top cover that is the adjustable version like mine? (For a reasonable price)
The slight hesitation/misfire appears to have gone (Probably the new MAF cured that issue)

Now just need to get it re-tuned, to cover all the other stuff I have replaced, etc.
I am interested in the ‘home fry’ versions of software.

How did you do it and what kit did you use? (Stag/Intel programmer, etc)

                              Hi,

                              Is yours adjustable or not?

As I am half tempted to convert to the non-adjustable version, if that was OEM equipment specification.

                              Ta.

By the way, have you ever seen an UrS6/S4 with arch extensions?
When I took my car to Audi last year they commented on my wheel and tyre combination being too big for the arches (18”x8.5” on 255/35). So, being a trust worthy soul I bought the arch extension bits. ((£350+VAT) I will need to have them painted at the same time as I have my bonnet sorted.)
I would just like to see a car with them fitted before I do it.
                                Many thanks.
