Right guys, i managed to get the car inside the garage today to have a look and see why its not starting.
First hurdle to get over was getting the bonnet open ! Cable has snapped so it was no mean task just getting into the thing to have a look under the bonnet !! managed to reach in with a long screwdriver and release both the levers on the hinges and got the bonnet open
Fitted a new battery as the one fitted was flatter than a ducks foot
Next problem was that the ignition came on instantly when i connected the new battery, even with the key in my pocket !!!!! Pulled the bottom section of the dash off and got the multi plug off the back of the ignition barrel and managed to work out which pin on the plug did what and got it cranking over finally
Sure enough it has no spark, first thing i checked was the rotor arm to see if the dizzy gear had broken up, not the problem as rotor arm turning round nicely on crank.
had a check to see if the dizzy was getting power, with the ignition on i have 11.35v at the red and black wire on the dizzy multi plug, 5.00v at the centre pin which is green and white, and the brown and white one is the earth. Are these values correct and what i should be seeing at the dizzy ????
Anyone got any ideas as to what i should be looking at next to try and get the old girl into life !!!!!
Cheers folks.
