    Dump Valve Orientation

Having messed about with some dump valves last week with Sal_S2, Volcano RS and S2 Nip

We ended up putting the dump valves in the reverse orientation of the stock dump valve as in the normal position the valves weren't holding pressure.

Check the thread below, it's so coincidental that over in the US they had the same problem with the same make valve!

Hey Guys, Thought I would share some info I discovered recently with regards to my Forged (chinese copy). Bypass valve. I had been experiencing a stumble at high boost and sometimes right when the boost was hitting. Felt like the boost was just leaking out all of a sudden. I decided to...

Now this doesn't work for all dump valves, I've found over time that some DV's don't like being reversed and some do.

i can understand why the valve operates better in reverse orientation.

My understanding is that in normal line up the turbo side is trying to push the valve open, only for it to be held shut by the spring until it opens under vacuum.

When its connected in reverse, the turbo side is pushing the valve shut, rather than open, this means when it opens there must be more turbulent flow as the air is designed to only flow in one direction isnt it!? or am i talking bull haha

      interesting point there anyway jamo

Well the dude on motorgeek that is testing the valve seems to forget that he need to apply pressure on the small pipe/hose aswell If you dont do that only spring force holds the valve shut.

Spring power combined with the pressure coming from the small hose holds the valve shut. Since one now has more boost on top of the piston compared to the pressure applied at one of the larger holes on the DV.

When changing gear, vacuum is applied on the small hose which now means that instead og spring force + boost pressure you now have spring force and vacuum pulling. Now the boost pressure can open the piston and dump the air.

However when testing I also found that reversing the 006 gave a better and more airtight solution. However do not reverse a Bailey DV30, couse that dont work reversed, this fooked my RS2 turbo

Jonas, on the subject of the DV30 from Bailey, how do you rate them? Ive had quite a few forge ones now and im neither impressed nor un-impressed with them. Anyone else had good/bad experiences with Bailey?

Baileys DV30, that's one of the valves I had problems with.

They are o.k but you must service them, the piston stick unless it's constanly lubricated with WD40 or some other alternative

Well my experiance was very short and painfull with the bailey dv30, so cant really comment on the performance. But Iam diffenly sticking with my forge now.

                          Cheers

this works then, they have done this for quite som time now, in sweden, with the original dumpvalves. cool..
