      .

As long as they match the set of 5, i wouldn't worry they are not the same as someone elses.

Prolly cos they dont mark the box with actual weight, otherwise they might not sell the heavy ones?

Standard ABY rod weight is 660grams inc bolts. I only have a small 500gram scales so i had to weight both parts and add them together, should be fairly accurate

          SPM rods are ~515grams

So there is a significan weight saving with just Scat rods. That's all I needed to know really, thanks. I'm sure that other rods at £500 are lighter again but the Scat ones are proven and cheap. I would have kept the standard rods if they were lighter but they're not so I won't... see!

I know this is how mine was done via Aelred.
On lightened crank and with aluminium flywheel (7kg weigh saving) and aluminium front pulley (3kg weight saving) the way to go seems to be zero balanced. I am prepared to go zero balanced and report back on the findings.

That is really light. I'm planning 8kg flywheel and either 3b front pulley or custom steel on depending on what advice I receive on balancing.

The alloy flywheel only weighs 4.7kg compared to standard single mass flywheel at 11.5kg and the alloy front pully weighs in at 1kg compared to standard at 4.3kg. Engine should be rebuilt and in the car within the next 2 weeks (I hope!).

Throttle response should be very sharp but idle... not so much

This is a good thread - gathering real hard facts now on the weight of some of these items. If anyone has rod weight info on Pauters, Arrows or any other forged conrods for the I5 engine that would be great.

Also getting price info and some view of what materials are used so that people can make more informed purchasing decision for their intended application.

Yeah, I was going to keep the standard rods for projekt k24 as I thought they were weaker and therefore lighter but there's a decent weight saving just by going to Scat rods so I'm going to get me some afterall and have an engine suitable for a GT3071 as per the rest of the car...
