    Uprated single coil for 3B?

After the discussions about spark hop etc. It was mentioned to use a uprated single coil for the 3B to avoid this.

But what choices is out there for an uprated version?

Also what is required besides an uprated single coil?

Any suggestions, inputs etc. are very welcome

    SQ surely is an option?

For my project I've just ensured that the width is not wider than original, as has been suggested in the past when using the p/n. This obviously doesn't reduce risk of spark hop, but it makes sure that the risk is not increased! I'm interested to see what alternative coils you find.

Did not think of that, but yeah SQ could be an option

I have emailed MSD and 034motorsport asking about uprated coils.

I also checked my rotorarm and it is the narrow type, just to decrease chance of spark hop.

I have no idea if it is even better. It is also used on the audi 100 with the MC engine 2.2 Turbo with 165 bhp.

Perhaps I can get a used one cheap on ebay and then compare specs

Be good to see how they compare and how easy it is to find one.

Some news, got an email back from 034motorsport:

You will need this coil and 1 plug wire end for the coil lead...

                        Coil: http://www.034motorsport.com/product...roducts_id=277

                        Plug wire end: http://www.034motorsport.com/product...products_id=41
                        Any thoughts on this item?

when i checked my rotor arm the other day there seemed to be a resistor in line. no idea why it's there but would it reduce the final power of the spark at the plug and may be not getting the full benafit of the uprated coil. if you put more voltage through it could it result in burning out the rotor arm . and may be worst case sending spark to wrong cylinder i may be talking coplete ******** but this is how my mind works i am afrade. perhaps a different rotor arm may have to go with the uprated coil.
