    Engine mounts - threads?

Quick one, can anyone tell me what the thread on the top stud of an engine mount for an ABY is please? I don't have one infront of me and I'm wanting to pick up some Nylocs before my 034's arrive. From memory I think that they are M12, but if anyone can clarify, that would be great. Cheers!

    Be aware!

Ciaran, when I ordered S2 engine mounts from 034 they came as 3B ones, and not ABY ones. THey only give a choice of S2 not S2 3b or S2 ABY. This applies to both their stret density and track density.

Apparently there is a slight difference in the mounting points between an S2 3B and an S2 ABY. One has the mounting holes at 12 and 6 o'clock and the other type is at say 1 and 5 o'clock.

Please correct me if I've advised you incorrect when you receive them. Sorry can't answer what you asked re the nut.

I found their front snubber very good if a little hard to get the red bush into the holder?

    Kind regards.

the ABY is different but the mounts usually have 2 holes at one end, so can be used for both. Or at least the motorsport ones do anyway.

They usually come with all the bolts and nuts too.

EDIT: Sorry, it's an optional extra for the bolts. I think it is an M12 though.

I've already been through this problem with the SD mounts, I've got a set of the motorsport mounts coming from Corey now, maybe they aren't made by 034, but they will definately be ABY specific.

I only found out the difference after removing the mount under the turbo (might as well get the difficult one out of the way first, I thought).

            Cheers

When changing the mounts do you have to support the engine while you change a single mount or is it possible without doing that?

enjoy, mine was a biatch of a job to get off, I ended up having to take the mount off the body rather than the engine as it was siezed solid

Something to look forward to - not.

You'll really enjoy changing the turbo side engine mount. Give yourself plenty of time.

BTDT recently and that was with the sub-frame removed for new bushes.

Having said that, now with all new standard subframe, wishbone bushes, FARB bushes, trackrod ends, ball joints, and drop links for the FARB, together with new standard top mounts really makes the car feel nice, tight and new again.

Had to put back the existing shocks even though one of them was past its best so will need to take some of it back apart again to put in new shocks, so with this in mind, make sure to print out the EKTA drawing and have all of the various little and big things that you might need to hand so as you only have to take it apart once. Not like me.

Mine took ages because of a difficulty pressing in the new sub-frame bushes, thank goodness for brothers with a spare Avant.

                        Kind regards.

I can confirm they are a b*tch to do.

I used a blowtorch. I think that made matters worse.

I used a trolley jack and block of wood on the sump last time, no bother.

Cool, I can cope with that, looks like I need to plan a weekend for it so that I can soak the nuts and bolts in WD40 before hand
