dest, have you really measured your car's weight?S2 and RS2 avant dont have a whole lot differences to have too much weight difference and it seems that i have never found an avant fully equiped that weighs less than 1600-1650Kg with a driver.Mine weighs 1780 with me in(80Kg) but i do carry a nice set of tools and couple of fluid bottles, fire extinguishers etc.
The problem with these avants is the weight if you ask me,and only solution is more power,as eventually a SM flywheel will be gotten used to and also the RS2 route,is not the cheaper choice as the rs2 turbo is ridicusly expensive, when there are lots of newer and better turbos to select from.I agree that this is not a car to have it striped so,just put on some more power and you will feel the difference.

Actually a thing that i wanted to mention as well is that since i replaced the diff mount with the apicol unit, the car doesnt really dip on the rear end anymore and although it seems to clime the Kms at the same rate, you dont actually feel the acceleration the same way as before.Kick seems less obvious, but the Kms tell me that this is misleading,as it goes fast anyway. So there are many factors that can make you 'feel'less kick there

i agree with paul could be a leak somewhere,
I can second that - nips car is pretty nippy having test driven it before he bought it...

As for dest - IMHO the nature of performance Audis tends to mask their acceleration, and it gets 'worse' the more modern the Audi. I tested an A6 2.7tt last week and the speedo was the only thing telling me how quick the thing was. A bit dull really. The only solution is to talk to MRC and get your wallet out, or switch to something less refined...
      Nothing feels fast for long...

Cheapest way is to run Tesco 99 and possibly a little octane booster.
Make sure there are ABSOLUTELY NO AIR LEAKS on the boost hoses and importantly the breather system.
Run the lightest oil you can, 5W50 is as light as I dare go with track, 10W60 is prob. better but road use might allow 10 or 5w40 but the turbo will be under a bit more wear.
SM flywheel, lightened 1Kg and cleaned up should do the trick.
Lightweight wheels such as OZ Ultralegerras, and light tyres
Smallest brakes you can allow, i.e. 314s, standard rears
Strip all unnecessary weight out, replace heavy armchairs with racing buckets
Drill the airbox, it makes it sound a lot faster.
Adjustable DV such as Turbosmart for the same effect.
Louder exhaust for the same effect.

Basically what I've done to mine and it feels and sounds rapid enough for now

Not really, I'd be suprised if it was any faster than any other Homefried S2 TBH. Have to see how it fares when I can get back on track with the new toys on , new boots on and whatever else comes my way...

My daily is a diesel land rover, so walking seems fast!
Its the weight penalty of the avant that doesnt help matters.
Years ago when i first had a gt coupe i stripped it inside as it leaked in. took rear seats out and all the trim i didnt need. made it much faster.
time your car from a standing start and see how it comapres to your previous ones-may be that it is faster but you dont realise because its better built!

Damn! If I had known it had even more kick to it, I'd have definately bought it instead of the A4!

I should obviously state that my Cav was highly modified, which included bigger injectors, front mounted intercooler (standard one does have one atall!), hybrid turbo, EVO5 chip, full 3" system with no cats or centre box, XE inlet cam (gives more torque)

Yes, I totally agree the S2 is quiet, mine was near enough silent when I got it, but it is FAR from quiet now

That could be part of it.
I also strongly feel it doesnt help when you have previously owned other cars that have very good performance, as naturally you compare them.
Having been in my car (although it wasnt homefried at the time), did you feel it was running heathly in comparison to others you have been in?

Mine is showing ~17psi on full boost, which I have been told is alittle low, but I havent got a clue what is causing it!!
Your figures are pretty much exactly the same as my Cav had, so to me that proves I CAN acheive them. But, I guess even with the same figures, it will also depend on how its delivered which makes it "feel" fast or not
