I agree the problem with the s2 is it feels too refined. I have very little power compared to most people on here but a few choice mods makes my coupe feel very quick indeed, and a hell of a lot more raw. That makes the whole driving experience a lot more fun.
There is no point in having massive power figures if you can't enjoy it.
Thats just reminded me of what I had been meaning to say but couldnt remember what it was when I posted
Its not very often I get to run against other high performance cars, none of my mates have got them, and its a very rare occasion that I get to "race" against any on the roads either!
Infact, I cant even remember the last time I had a chance to have some fun against another fast car atall :mischeif:
I dont want a car that sends me to sleep....... I want abit of crash bang wallop!
Something that sounds nice, (I will admit now that mine DOES sound AWESOME and I love do it!) and goes well when you want it to.
I want a car that makes me sit up and take notice, something that awakens my senses, not sends them drifting to sleep as I aimlessly waft along!
Another thing I was thinking, in relation to what I said above... all you that love the performance of your S2, have you owned anything previously that is FASTER?
From having driven Sonic's car - and being used to driving around with how he puts it "blood pouring from my ears" I can definately vouch for the fact that it does make you sit up and take notice. However when the occasion demands it can also be very civilised and a relaxing place to be and I can see how an S2 can fill both demands.
I've never owned anything quicker than my various imprezas but I've driven plenty of things that were faster but didn't feel faster. Conversely I've also driven cars that were slower but that felt alot faster than they were.
Haynes Manual:As described in Chapter 7...
Translation:That'll teach you not to read through before you start, now you are looking at scarey photos of the inside of a gearbox.
Regarding the sound/volume, mine SOUNDS very fast
I just wish the boost coming in wasnt so smooth and progressive, give me all of it in one hit, push me back in my seat... I want warp factor 9 when I put my foot down, not get to 9 after a breif visit to 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 and 8 along the way
dest,
ive had 2 s2 coupes,3b and aby now my aby avant.
the 3b felt quick as was lighter and more responsive. 1st gear in a 3b is neck breaking
went to the aby coupe which felt lazy, even after homefry, this was blatantly down to the dual mass flywheel,
my single mass rs2 g/boxed aby avant feels perfect!!!
this is not predictions this is from someone whos owned all the above and in each pulled 170!!
i reckon a 3b flywheel wouldnt be too expensive. apart from spending big money i reckon you have realisticly done all you can on yours mate.
most of us would do the homefry, zorst, etc, its just down to the sheer weight, they can feel lazy!
my cheap top tip: go to halfrauds and buy a bottle of HOTSHOXX octane booster in an orange bottle, plenty extra bang for the buck
Sod that, my feelings towards fuel additives are the same as nitrous... I want power that I can use as and when I need it, not when I refill or buy a new bottle!
Stupid as it may sound but mechanical boost control is like what Dest describes.
Electronic control is more progressive.
Buy a 1 bar spring and feel the difference ( warning be prepared for the side effects of ecu boost control )
you mean getting thrown thru the windscreen when the boost cut cuts in
had one on my old 3b (when i didnt know how bad they were) and it ws frickin quick would do 165 uphill! but eventually got scared to floor it as i kept being thrown violently forward.
