While my S2 is off the road, it would make alot of sense to sort myself out with a Homefry. My main concern is though, how do I get the ECU out? I know where it is and I've already been assured its a fairly easy job to do, but are there any hidden or secret hints or tips to getting it out as easily and with as little destruction and carnage as possible?
Thanks,
Mark

Not my words - but as written by someone else on here (my tip is be prepared to convolute your body upside down and backwards with a screwdriver for a while - it may hurt if you're as old as I am ):...
Remove battery positive!
No need to remove the glovebox - just that lower trim panel. Remove the boost tube and any tywrap that might be on the connector at the ECU. If you still have the big white trim clip on the bulkhead below the ECU then remove/twist it away for clearance.
Then simply prise open the big spring clip and tease the ECU down from its location.
If you have aircon then you need to temporarily remove the drain tube from the evaporator for clearance. It can be tight past the carpet but it does come out with patience. The 1st time is the worst !
Cheers for the link. I really am not looking forward to it now. Nice to see you back too Alex, good holiday?
I'll keep telling myself that an extra 0.2 bar will be worth the skinned knuckles and generall ball-ache of this job. Roll on Wednesday.

Right, I've just come in from nearly half an hour of struggling with this bloody thing. I've tried pushing and pulling it all sorts of ways, but them tabs are going nowhere. I've got the big plug off and its dangling in my face and down my ear. I'm going to give it another go in a few minutes.

Ignore the above post, just literally gone straight out and done it. I can see how easy it is to do, once you know how to do it.

Yes thanks mate - took a month or so to dry out!
Off to Anglesey on thursday to try the new, improved race track at Ty-Croes :mischeif:
Ooh have they finished it now? I went there near on 2 years ago to meet up with some LMA saloon racer mates and the place looked like a bomb had hit it. Still good fun though. Oddly enough, it leathered down with rain then too.

Trying to get my ECU out as we speak. I have removed it from behind the glove box and removed the boost pipe but i just cant get the black connector off. I have taken out the screw, pull the metal clip back to release it on one side but i cant release it on the other side! Have i forgot to take something off?

There is often a factory fitted tywrap that secures the connector onto ECU as well. WIth that off its just a matter of lifting up the metal clip and that starts to lever the connector out of the ECU.
