Could be that you actually have two seperate problems here. Fixing that tiny boost leak may have solved the overboost problem.

One thing worth mentioning; i swapped the injectors on my old 7A which made it run very rich, as a result (mainly because of the older crappy ISVs) my car stalled all the time in a similiar way to what you describe. Is your car running rich? Lambda sensor?

Really clutching at straws here i know....

Well - its amazing, but true - the best chips in the world cant solve air leaks !

@James - If its not the ISV, then I would go after a few things - fuel pressure.

But its more likely an air leak... If its absolutely NOT on the main hoses or the TBV or the WG leaking, then it could be the narrow gauge stuff. On the ABY there is two pipes at the rear of the IM which get T'eed into various things - search here for 'ABY Vacuum Tree' - there is an especially irksome connection on aircon equipped cars that gave me grief for months before I found it. With a vacuum tester you should be able to ascertain those connections are airtight.

The only other narrow gauge pipe of note on the ABY is at front of IM (near the CMP) where it goes down to a metal link pipe, then picks up another braided hose to the control port on the TBV - this should be asbolutely airtight as well.

james when you say "you have just been up the road" are you getting the car up to temp
,i would go for a blast up the motor way for a about 10 miles then reset and check the ecu and try the car again . mine was stalling after a few mins of driving but it seemed to cure its self
i did change the tps at some point and not had any probs since

          Cheers Paul....

As you may have read, I have had the day on the car. Replaced all small bore vacuum hose and leak tested everything (seriously, spent about 7 hours leak testing)
The only pressure drop was through the turbo, but after "bunging" these it held 1 bar no probs.

I noticed when pressuring the system a slight puff from the pipe on top of the wastegate...woould this be the diaphragm forcing a cap full of air out as is lifts?

          Cheers

          James
ps, is there an easy way to check fuel pressure and/or a poorly pump?

Are you using super unleaded ,try some fresh fuel or a different brand it is surprising
what difference this can make when giving it some stick and under load.

Funny you should say that Andy....I was just thinking about the last time I filled it up and what it was...

It was a tank of Waitrose "super". Have read on here that some fuels really make the car like s***. Could this be the idling prob? Must say that since I put it all back together this afternoon, it has not gone into overboost protection mode, still feels a little hesitant and wont idle too well.
