Interesting! Not sure that would translate to a failed bearing on only one cylinder though?

I do have my lovely £250 ABY oil pump in the garage, was thinking about making an ornament from it.

                The results.

                Just split the dodgey pump.

Shows signs of small metal particles and surface rust...will be fully cleaning it.

Pump looked fine out of the box, it was only when i dismantled it to lube everything i found the grit. You can feel it when you rub it between your fingers, not good.

                      Looks like fine casting sand?

P.S. anyone know the torque for the screws on the inner plate now i've stripped it?

I think your right, thats exactly what it is. Looks like its soft, but feels like sand.

No idea on the torques, i couldn't find any reference. Mine had a line drawn through them with a felt tipped pen, i just cranked them by feel then made sure the lines match up. Oh and a little dab of red loctite to help me sleep at night

Why cant we get oil pumps built in Germany ?

If I wanted ****ing Korean parts I'd have bought a ****ing Hyundai or some other pissashid Korean crap.

PS - I am NOT racist - I just have no time for Japanese or Korean cars - never have - since I was a nipper I could tell they had as much soul as Dolly Parton.
