Other options are Forge DV007, Bailey, Turbosmart, GFB, best stick to recirculating type. If the DV is leaking then it'll be letting high pressure air back into the low pressure side and could give the problems ou describe. Worth replacing it if you've not ever done so. Other option is the Lambda probe, they can give some funnies but not as bad as you describe.

Oh, and if you've not got a method of leak testing the inlet then get yourself a kit (not sure if AndyP is still doing them) as that'll find you all the little leaks that kill performance over time. All the small bore hoses that relay boost all over the place degrade, and it's so easy to get a Jubilee clip on slightly on the P and get a leak that way.

cheers for the suggestions, am leaving work soon, will see if the Audi stealers have the 710N (06A 145 710N) just rung my mate at VW..

      right....

problem seems to be solved 8)

I replaced the WG Diaphragm, and that made no difference at all! and what a barstuard of a job! trying to get the 11mm nut undone!

so, thought nows the time to try the coils, started at no.1 and worked my way back, doing 200-300 meters, just long enough to boost in 2nd did this 5 times, and on no.5 it was back to normal!

So the problem has appeared to have gone away.

next question, i ordered the new 710N DV from VW earlier, will be in first thing in the morning, should i change it? is there any advantege over the standard one?

well, i pulled the valve up as far as it would come, managed to shred the old diaphragm by tryin to undo the nut, i then wrapped 2 nice big snap-on screw drives with electrical tape to make them a little softer and more grippy, then gently tapped them in the gap, then just undid the nut. to refit it i did it as tight as i could by holding it and used thread lock...

excellent did not think of that at the time, you must have used a heap of electrical tape, good effort glad to hear you got it done.

My diaphragm looked like the original one it fell apart in my hands when i took it off.

Keith where about's are you from? you're certainly not a yank they way you talk about "Steelers"

Good to hear another S2 has got full boost again

            cheers
