[QUOTE=Jamo;406019]How do you know? If a turbo fails it will let go in big fashion masking all other symptoms.

Although i dont disagree that these are best on the engine most turbo failures ive seen dont mask symptoms.

the shaft tolerence goes in some way shape or form goes and the fins hit the casing.

superchargers have more of a tendancy to grenade.

its a bit like the intercooler vs no intercooler debate some marques have. bov or whatever you want to call it is there to preserve life a little longer and make driving easier if the pressures are well within the limits the extra wear is negligable.

whats the boost pressure standard on an UR compared with a S2. this may be the important information for comparison.

My UrS4 didn't have DV when I bought it. Don't know how long it had been driven without, but I got tired of stall noises in 2 days and bought Bosch one. Of course cone filter made the sound that much louder, but I still had shift and induction noise for almost 2 years, then on one drive I had a bit hangover and decided to try original airbox... Car lost droning sounds when cruising \o/

Turbo survived that period of life, and I was able to sell it to another Audihead

disconnected the tbv vac line and..................nothing nothing really detectable, though the weak spring meant that boost pressure was always going to be low.

The physical forces on turbo blades during stall are non insignificant... Remember the WRC cars that ran with that noise in the 80s will have had a fresh turbo from the parts shelf every one or two events. That doesnt mean a stock turbo will die instantly after a few chatters - but it is taking extra stress for sure - and you have more lag too.

Did what everyone on here is talking about at the moment over the weekend. (Saturday Only)

Removed Standard dump Valve, Blocked off both ends of pipes Induction and boost side and blocked the vac pipe.
              Instant Turbo chatter.
Then it blew one of the things i used to block the pipe on the boost side off so it was the end of that. Reffitted Dump valvle but not on the induction side by mistake, Holly Crap it was making a huge Dump Valve hiss everytime i came off boost, and eratic idle and stalling, found my error and now car is back to normal

              So as a review

Wouldnt bother, car felt slower and lag was considerably more.

Brave boy! The extra boost created before the turbo stalls will cause you many a pipe problem too, as you found out. Not sure what levels of extra boost are created, would be interesting to fix up a boost gauge... just not on my car

Still all in a box in the garage. I promise I will get round to it at some point. I have just about finished with all the pretty things to make my S2 look the part. And I don't think there is any more factory options that I can install now. So next is handling.... then big brakes..... Then for the power upgrades.....

While im on with the options list. Is there anything I have missed?

                    Fitted is;
                    Glass pre select sunroof
                    Rear opening windows
                    Heated leather seats
                    Cruise control
                    air con (That works )
                    Black headlining.
                    Audi Nut!!!

                      rs2 front seats
                      climate control

would be what i'd fit to mine, hence why i've still got it sitting at home

Is it just me or is that one of the slowest s car ive seen???

Laggy to fek on the gear changes.

If its the sound you wnat get a HKS blow off valve.
