turbo fitted, and drives better, but still not boostin
could an inlet manifold blowin cause it not to boost at all? surely not?Comment

Nope, that's not it.
When we went out for a drive it didn't sound like a boost leak.
A boost leak usually gives you some power and then just tales off, your car was struggling so much that it didn't even show 0 on the boost gauge, it only stayed in vacuum even at WOT.
Is the boost gauge resetting as it should now when you switch the engine off? Or is it still taking ages to pull air back through and staying in vacuum? If the air line to your ecu is compromised then the car wont run well at all. Perhaps check that again and run a new bit of pipe that is not joined in the middle all the way from the manifold to the ecu with out moister trap etc.
Also might be worth checking the lambda probe. Also check all the fuses again, not just the ones plugged in but also the ones that are missing (if any) for example of the lambda fuse was missing you might not have spotted it as several people tempered with the car before you and someone could have mistaken it as a spare.
In fact if were you I'd go back to square one, remove everything, and i mean everything and rebuild it all from scratch. Might take a weekend but then atleast you know its all done properly.
Also check fuel pump and filter as low fuel pressure could course no boost too.
It definitely felt like your car was trying to go but something was stopping it. A boost leak doesn't feel like that.

Set the engine up with all the static timings in place i.e. in line with the marks as it should be.
1. check the front pulley lines up with the oil pump mark and also check that the flywheel lines up with the split "0" against the casing.
2. take the rocker cover off and check the position of the cams, in let and exhaust should produce an even "V" shape on number one when at TDC.
It could be that you have broken a wood ruff key and a sprocket has moved slightly and ******ed the timing though statically (externally) it will look correct.
I had a similar issue on a 10v engine years ago took me ages to work it out.. A long shot may be but all is worth checking..
Hope it helps.

darren ta, but did timin last weekend wiv bo and stu, could a fked lambda be a cause bo? Would vagcom not of picked it up?Comment

If you remember we pulled up a lambda code last week, also map sensor at one point and mixture adaptation. And it stank of fuel when you shut it off, although this may just be a symptom caused by the main fault.Comment
