Thats normal. Mine were same. New RS2 ones are also different colours. Cant remmber which was which, never bothered to look at them too hard as I had new ones to put in anyway. Been in stock for over a year now! LOLsigpic

Ok, so the main job to get sorted is the big end shells if the engine is coming out.
Doug, are you saying I might as well get RS2 upper and lower shells, or just the upper shells? They need replacing as a complete set, yes?
Regarding metal head gasket, you mentioned the need for a good surface finish on the head. What's the situation for the mating surface on the upper deck of the engine block, will that need some work too?

Just make sure it is clean and free of imperfections. Yes replace both upper and lower shells.sigpic

From what I've been reading here Des, it would seem that ABY lumps already come "hardened" to the higher outputs we're all craving!!
I've found a competent engine builder who has done reliable work on some racing engines for a colleague of mine. Next stop, buying some of those bits!

I think I'll put together a rebuild kit for the S2!!
Stage 1: upper rebuild head gasket etc
Stage 2: Turbo off, and head
Stage 3: The big one, everything! with cheese too! would you like to supersize those rods sir?Comment
