I'm guessing blown N75. Those flimsy pieces of plastic don't like much more than 1.7bar max and has blown many an engine by allowing boost to go too high, causing detonation and pre ignition. Holed pistons or bent rods is the outcome.
My S2 hit 3 Bar earlier...yikes !!

I'm with Espen on this one... N75 could be stuck thru internal failure or by cold weather maybe - either way not good as it stops boost pressure from opening the wastegate and its only when exhaust gas pressure gets high enough that the WG starts to open as last resort.Paul Nugent

The question is no matter what the cause , leak in hose to waste gate etc , etc , WHY isn't the ECU turning the fuel pump off to protect the motor !Comment

thats true jo, had the fuel pump cut off before on an old 3b s2 i had......horrible....its like getting thrown through the windscreenComment

Agree with the N75 / WG diagnosis, if the N75 or the WG is blocked in such a way to deny boost pressure then you're in stuck. Take it al apart, clean it, check for blockages, replace the N75 with one that is known working.Cheers'en, AndyC

Check the WG diaphagm first, you can do that by sucking on a tube on the upper chamber
