I have a dilemma! I'm after 500hp project and right now considering building the engine. I already got the rods but should I invest more money for custom pistons or stick with stock ones?
Basically what are the limits of the stock pistons and what will be my benefits if use customs?
what is the price of the bearings and segments in UK?
and it is possible rebore a few in a machine shop and clean the cylinder bores for a nice engine block refresh continue later using the original used pistons with new racing piston rings??

If the bores are within tolerance once honed (correct piston to sidewall clearance), the pistons themselves have are not oval. Then you can fit aftermarket piston rings to original manufacturers dimensions. Pro Seal rings are nice rings for your hp target.
If sticking with Kolbensmith/stock rings, is it better to go with chrome or moly top ring? Is it the chrome plating coming off the top ring the problem with stock rings?
