    Checking the WGFV

Now I've got the intake apart, is there a simple test I can perform on the WGFV in order to ensure its working correctly?

Is it my imagination or did I read a thread about that a while back?

    Cheers.

I'd like some details on this aswell, being a pneumatic control valve with 3 ports i presume it works like a switch normally diverting air down one path then when power is put to the valve it will divert it down the other path---is this correct and what voltage does the valve work on???

You can run tests on it with VAG-COM. This will actuate the valve. Useful for cleaning it. Also works for the ISV.

As for the voltage I can't say for sure but it's likely to be 12V as most of these components were designed for standardised setups on different vehicles from different manufacturers.

Take it off, spray a load of WD 40 through it and just flash 12volts across it to make it click, make sure its operating properly and not sticking. Spray again, lots of muck may come out.

5V!!!!!!!!!!! Nearly all electronic components run on 5V, although some do use 12V. Would have to check wiring diagram to tell.
