the RSR from MTM has had other rods if i remeber correctly. Also i dont think that MRC are selling a 650nm chip for the RS2 turbo.... i am not sure that it is possible.

If you look at the compressor map you will see that you can get 2 bar with the RS2 turbo but it decends wo the red line. If you have more than 1.2 bar on the stock RS2 turbo you are overspinning it and thus reducing it's longevity.

      RS2 turbo will push 700nm

maybe way over its limit and effieciency if you have a 2.2+bar boost spike.

those big number are dependent on temps and fuel. E85 may get those figures. standard fuel may see a damaged engine.

i cannot understand teh point in pushing ti way past the efficiency line.

Ya might be right, but whats the so called efficiency line?.

the point where the turbo is creating hot air. pushing it beyond where its supposed to be.

there are ways to help the engine such as beeter cooling and intercooling but turbo life will be shortened.

you get good money for rs2 units. is it not better to go 3071r for the 400hp+ and sell the rs2 unit for a wedge.

its each to their own and no set rule. i just endorse well balanced not overly stressed setups.

                    700NM????

wow this number is getting bigger by the year!

it was some months ago we had a debate saying that the rs2 turbo can push something like 620Nm at most and that 3071 could do the same or something. Now we went to 700Nm?? is that for one run only? or what?

Sorry to nitpick, but the turbo always creates hot air, because compression is an adiabatic process.

Here is a plot with the stock K24-7000 unit on a stock AAN engine stock and mapped to 1.4 bar.

And the numbers (boost is measured).

If you increase flow more (by either increasing pressure, engine VE or RPM) you will either overspin the turbo or run to the choke line. But in both cases you will lose efficiency. The lower the efficiency, the more temperature difference there is between air before and after the turbo.

Note, that this graph only shows what happens in WOT conditions. For other conditions you can draw a polygon "downwards", and it is important that it is as efficient as possible. To be even more correct, one could plot a curve that stops at 0.4 bar (because that is the amount of mechanically controlled boost, that will always be there) and then see how the area between the WOT and the 0.4 bar curve is placed, as that area is electronically controlled by the N75 valve.

im talking the point where temps get above the point of effective gains. efficiency decrease as you say.

Turbonetics T04 E50 turbo with KKK #8 hotside.
IAT (w(stock RS2 IC) is only 3-4 degs C higher with 2.15 bar vs the 1.1bar low setting (1.1bar peak gives approx. 325hp/380nm at the wheels). Only potential issue would be exhaust reversion at high rpm due to stock RS2 manifold and downpipe.
Colder plugs than stock, Bosch F3CS due to ethanol's somewhat lower resistance to pre ignition vs C16 race fuel. Ethanol resists detonation as well or better than race fuel, but not as resistant to pre ignition.
Timing drops to 16 degs at peak torque, then increases to approx. 24 degs at 7000rpm (depending on ambient/IAT).

ok ...than don't change the rod... do remap on 400+hp... and live on edge...

somebody will be happy because they will sale you new engine block and pistons...

in Croatia we don't have much 2.2 20vt engines.

last year 3 engines blow away because we didn't change the rods... Aromatic is witness.

Im gonna be changin rods, due to goin bigger setup, i dont see the problem runnin upto or tad over 400hp on standard rods.
