I tried to find one of these last night and none to be found second hand on ebay.

Even though you only changed the turbo injectors and engine management, this is not a very good
comparison as the the 034 RS2 chips are a bit lame, a friend of mine had them on his car and after 6 months had the car mapped properly (no other changes ) and the difference was also night and day.
It would be good to compare this turbo properly mapped to an RS2 turbo properly mapped and see the dyno comparison as well.
I must say though it does sound good and for the money it seems a good choice, if I didn't already have an RS2 turbo I would probably go for one of these.Leave a comment:

Speaking from my own experience, and my own car. I had an RS2 turbo fitted with 034 rs2 software and rs2 replica injectors. I changed ONLY THE TURBO, INJECTORS, and ENGINE MANAGEMENT, all other factors stayed the same (intercooler, exhaust manifold, downpipe, exhaust, coils, ect). It was a night and day difference in power. Much quicker to spool, and much more torque. Again as stated dyno results are not truely comparable across the board, as mentioned, my readings on a different dyno could have been much lower, but in the same regard they could have been much higher had i dyno'd on a different dyno at sea level with a different dyno. The only true measure of this turbo vs rs2 would be same car same day same dyno.
Again as i stated before you could also measure it compared to other cars that dyno'd that day. like the 3 b7 RS4s that dynod and all came within about 15hp of each other and all had varied levels of modifications. My car put down more whp the one that was "100%" stock, was 1 whp shy of beating the one with a fresh carbon cleaning and open exhaust, and about 12 whp shy of the one with a fresh clean, open exhaust and a ported and de-flapped intake manifold. I beat all of them on torque by over 100 WTQ. I would say that for what it is, and the price you can get them, it is a VERY capable turbo.Leave a comment:

Mustang dynos are pretty well known for reading low, and I used a 0.8 coefficient.
That said, I fully agree that the dyno is a tuning tool.
For me this turbo does almost RS2 power with stock turbo spool, this is all that is important. How far you can push it depends on each individual car...Leave a comment:

They're just probably slightly shorter legged horses.
Dyno is a good device for measuring difference during tuning. For exact power figures... well umh.
That 360 car might show 320 in some other dyno. Which one is correct? Probably neighter.Leave a comment:

The turbine is the restrictor. 350hp crank absolute max as long as it's 50mm exdu and in 6cm2 housing. And at that point it's pretty hot in there, 950+.Leave a comment:

It will certainly not make more top-end power, but it gets pretty close.
The wheel design is a decade newer and more efficient.
That said, I think there might be a difference between sticking it into machined K24 housings or using it's compressor housing and a K26 #6 housing.
Your 3B chipset used the first option IIRC, it might make more power using the second one...
Without dyno numbers it's just speculation... but I got a pretty good deal on a K26/K27, so I don't see the reason to fit this to my car anymore.
I will try to sell a package - turbo + rs2 injectors + live mapping session in my country, maybe someone will be interested and we can have some numbers.Leave a comment:

I'm a bit confused about the numbers you guys talk here. This turbo will not make more top end power than a RS2 unit. Period.
I can offer 3B chipset for K24-7400. I have mapped such car. I did like the turbo.
Surge problems on certain Garretts may me be partially or even fully solved by optimising cam timing and using more agressive cams. After all surge will happen only when pressure ratio rises too high for the given air flow. Better natural flow in the engine keeps pressure ratio lower. No rocket science really.
I might sell my K27-3072/K26 #8 + MTM sport quattro manifold soon... Similar units were used by MTM in their RSR 428hp conversion.Leave a comment:

There exists very bad hybrids with huge heavy compressor wheels. Take one with a "modern" little Coldside ;-)Leave a comment:

Ross, I might not fit it...
I think I will go K26/K27 hybrid, because that would max out my exhaust, intercooler, rods etc... just so I am not tempted to upgrade more, since that would be hugely expensive...
I am not sure yet though. Sorry to keep you waiting so long, but I have no time to work on my car, because I work on other cars every weekend!Leave a comment:
