i would tip the pump also. when i only changed from stock and old RS2 to the 044 pump the map was richer all over the place.
            Go Holset or Go RS4

              OK.
              Bought this pump...

According to this guide it should be almost plug and play fit.
The pump is a Denso pump, so it should be very good quality, and it is much cheaper than an OEM replacement, plus way more powerful.

I have no idea when my pump was last changed on my car (not in the last three years), and with an odometer reading of 244 000km, I don't think I want to take the risk...

That pump is not made by walbro.
Inside it is a denso pump... read the description

You are wrong in this case indeed.

Here is what the creator of these pumps has to say:
I can shed some light here. We use the traditional Nippondenso (ND) pump as our upgrade. Having placed hundreds of these units in customers' hands, we have yet to witness a single failure. The newer, less expensive pumps do not enjoy as spotless a reputation as the ND, and for that reason, we have stuck with the ND. Fuel pumps are one place I just will not compromise on; I have seen too many times the results of a fuel pump failure under boost, and it ain't pretty!

We rate this pump by the HP it will support, rather than an arbitrary flow rating. We are comfortable with 400-425 HP, 450 with a rewire (highly recommended in all circumstances!). We base this HP number on real world testing on a variety of DSM vehicles. Flow ratings alone can be most misleading, as they do not take the following into account:

                        1. Overall flow of your particular fuel system is affected by many factors. What Joe Fuel Pump Engineer achieved on his test bench is relevant, but not a true case.
                        2. These 'flow ratings' are usually determined @ 45 psi delivery pressure, an 'industry standard'. However, a DSM that is coming anywhere near 250 lph of fuel requirement will be running at least 65-70 psi. At these higher pressures, pump delivery volume falls off dramatically, and strain on the pump itself increases. I am sure that the advertised 255 lph flow rate of the pump is true @ 45 PSI, but I have yet to see a 450 HP normally aspirated DSM! Boost increases fuel pressure at a 1:1 ratio, so please keep this factor in mind when chooosing your fuel system products.

Another overlooked factor is fuel prssure monitoring on the car. A fuel pressure gauge not only allows you to verify that your initial setup is operating as intended, it also enables you to keep tabs on it should a problem crop up (wiring failure, low charging system voltage, plugged fiter(s), pinched line, pressure signal to reg popped off, pump going away...I could go on and on!). I therefore consider the fuel pressure gauge as important as boost and EGT.

Disclaimer: I do not intend to flame another manufacturer's product, but I value people's engines above the flak I might take for pointing out this information. Of course, the ND is what we sell, but this is because we trust it, not because it's the pump we can make the most money on (God knows we could move a lot more cheapies @ 100 bucks each!). This broad-based advice is intended for the benefit of all who read it.
Here is what the listing says:

This is not a Walbro pump. It is Denso in walbro casing.

Used a different Bosch sensor and re-calibrated my controller.

                          Result in third gear:

                          Pretty much the same...

Have you tryed to read voltage from your factory oxigen sensor?
