Is the generation of motronic in these i5 engines already doing it by recording a short term baseline history (5 previous cycles for example) of samples and simply comparing the ongoing cycle to that short term history? If it is, it basicly is an adapting system and there is no preset "healthy" engine baseline, it can adapt to load, noise and changes in the engine.

AFAIK, that's how it works... at least that's how the description says it works for motronics of that time period. I would need to look at the ECU PCB a bit more to confirm.
It should be 16 samples iirc.Comment

I'm not sure how good motronic really is at picking up knock and ping. When I has having motronic mapped with gt2871r etc I could hear ping over 6.5k. We took 2 deg from the timing map at that load and rpm sites and the ping went away. The knock function was still active in the chip but motronic didn't seem to react to it in my car...Comment

If you tune all maps at the same time then it can't react to knock and won't pull timing.Comment

i thought tuners on motronic like it because of that reason as well, that it can still maintain the option of knock sensing. I had some ping on high boost with the 3071R usually at the moment the boost came in.(not always)
but the timing reduction profile was thereComment

Well, after you have seen about 30-40 software for AAN and how some "respected" tuners tune, you understand, that everything is possible.Comment

If the adu rail has its return line conected to rail with a banjo bolt you undo that, and fit a bolt from a kjetronic fuel pump that will lock the return line to rail and also have an exit for you to get a gauge on.Or make a "t" at entrance of fuel in rail.Comment
