idle is at a steady 750rpm, letting it rise till 900 it's already 2 bar.
I've driven 2 other RS2's, and at least one of them certainly also has 1 bar on hot idle.

We both do have 5w30 in our cars however. 10W60 might be a different story regarding oil pressures.

yes, if you are using so thin oil, then it could be because of that. RS2 manual says, warm idle should not be below 1.8bar though. Check it out!!

I'll certainly be switching to 5w50 or 10w60 then

Mechanic said it must be quite clear to find the problem, since it gets really bad at higher revs... Hope so!

Coldstart this morning was 5 bar, but I turned it off after letting my mechanic listening for a bit.

Possible that the oilpump makes such horrible metallic noises with still delivering ok oilpressure?
          Yes pressure was ok.
It made no noise if revved up gently. Tell your mechanic the dogs that drive the pump only need a tiny amount of play to make a noise.can be done in the car. sump off, crank pulley off undo pump bolts.

Hope it is that as thats the cheapest fix!

now I listen your video 10 times , and it sound to me like your hidro lifters are very bad. few of them. I have a same problem with lifters but only one was bad in my case.. I know that you put new one in engine.. but it was a case to me to...

than I put the old one inside and noice has gone, I change all 20 lifters...

and your oil pressure are fine, that is normal that you have 1 bar at idle when engine is hot... more important is when you kick them, to have 4-5bar oil pressure. if you will go to 10w-60 than you will have 2bar at idele... now you have thiner oil.

you sad that your engine is ok when is total cold , and than after few minutes when start to warm , than start this noice..

the same was in my case, the same stupid lifters...

did your engine have a strange shake, or not linear work?

if you hold the engine higher than 7000 rpm, than lifters can go bad.

It is less noticable at cold start, but giving it 3500 rpm in the first 10sec it started, and the noise is already there. It's also coming from the bottom. I've had bad lifters on previous 5-pots, but this is different...

the engine doesn't shake, it runs perfectly smooth

                  Remove the sump!
Don't start the engine untill you find something!
I am sorry...but sound as a rod bearing.

This could also be the AC compressor if you have one, take the belt of or just turn it off and you know. If its ok my vote goes for a rod bearing.

                            Sump went off today.

result: big end bearings have been placed incorrectly at the overhaul one year ago.
In a set of big end bearings for the RS2 you have 5 hardened sputters, and 5 normal ones. Hardened one should be on top.

Cylinder 1 and 2: bottom and top normal
Cylinder 3: bottom hardened, top normal
Cylinder 4 and 5: hardened top AND bottom.

Cylinder 3 has major bearing damage, and it has rotated causing damage to the crankshaft and connecting rod.

I have mailed the company who did the overhaul with the question for there financial offer to compensate the costs. I do hope I don't need to reveal their name, as I don't like doing that.

Anyway, engine's going out and all will be done correctly.

Came across an engine recently with the same issue had been rebuild by a reputable firm, car was then sold and within 1000miles of the rebuild the big end bearing knocked the crank out. Upon inspection again sputters and normal bearings mixed and matched and placed in incorrect positions.

Hope it all works out for you.
