The engine has done 11000 miles since the rebuild, so they've kept going for quite long. The crankshaft needs to be polished, and in the worst case machined and rebuild with oversize bearings (if that exists for an RS2 )
Amazing it went so long with mixed up bearings... that is bad alright. Hope the builder is helpful getting things repaired properly. AFAIK - you can indeed get oversized sputter bearings for S2/RS2 from KOLBENSCHMIDT - they have online catalogues - actually I posted a section of it on the forum so you might find it here.
yes that cind of barings exist . my friend done few times on his aan.
but than my must balanced crankshaft with pulley and flywheel on, do not balanced withot them.
friend have a problem with axail bearing because he mis that thing. second time he balanced with pulley and flywhell on and for now is ok, now 2 years.
Are Scat RS2 H-beam (stock144mm) rods a good upgrade?
The price for 5 OEM audi's ones is higher, so doing this upgrade might be smart?
And do they require different rod-bearings (with no little holes in them for example), or are the KS ones to be used without a problem (with sputters on top this time!!!)?
I have built the engine of Nemilosu..on this forum with those bearings from KS, with stock rods. Till now..god bless...no problem..and he is trashing'it at drag races.
The scat rods have the same dimensions...should be fine.
Hope this helps!
Eugen
Unfortunately Aronmatic couldn't deliver them until next month, so I've bought a set of H-beams.
Now since the engine is going out... I'm thinking about changing the turbo since it has done 220.000km and dares to take out a little puff of blue smoke when going on 1.9bar boost.
What would your choises be.... original RS2 turbo or something different/little upgrade?
Depends on your budget...
Easiest and cheapest would be to get your original turbo rebuilt.
The question you should ask yourself is not "which turbo do I want to fit?", but "what do I not like about my current setup and which areas do I want to improve?".
don't spend money on OEM turbo, for that price you can get BB turbo, better spool ,more hp.. simullar turbo to k24-7200 is gareett 3071.. and have OEM hosting, you already have 3" downpipe, with little remap you can get 420hp with no problem.
