Been trying to get the bottom of annoying intermittent fluttery missing I've got on the 3b
Been gradually getting worse over the past few months and not managed to get to the bottom of it yet.
It’s – its not particular violent – not like its jerking about the road - more of prolonged fluttering / loss of power throughout general driving which I would say was a slight “missing “.
So, I was pulling the plug boots off one by one to try to isolate which cylinder in particular is off and got quite a belt when I pulled the lead to cylinder 2 off (well the second from the front). Just touching the top of the lead where it becomes the boot gave me quite a slap!
Doesn’t happen when I touch the other leads -so is this normal?
I’ve put in new spark plugs, swapped the leads & power amplifier to no avail. Cleaned the earth ring attachments to the intake manifold and she did seem to be running better – but still hicced under full boost, so I don’t think Ive sorted it.
Dizzy and cap were replaced last year when I had to swap the whole dizzy after the gear sheared. Cant see any obvious splits or anthing to indicate an obvious boost leak.
When it’s fluttering I can put my foot to the floor and absolutely nothing happens boost wise, until it all kicks back in and normal service is (very) briefly resumed.
Timing could be an issue but all seemed spot on when I first putthe rpelacement dizzy in - or do I have an earth problem?
cheers
Paul
