S2 Avant boost problems

The reason I asked about the oil is that if you are burning a lot of oil it can cause knock (pinging) and the ECU will reduce boost. I have had no problems with boost on the avant since fitting new piston rings and valve stem seals.

Also a hole in the DV diaphragm will not show up in a boost test if you pressurise from the MAF hose.

I think that your boost problem is not conected with oil pressure. my oil presure can drop to 1 bar , on idle and hot engine. this is normal..
change oil every 7000km, and use original audi oil filter...
10-50 or 10-60 are oil for our engines..

did you check your DV ? are they good?
do you have boost gauge or you look boost pressure on dash?

did you in mine time put some big intercooler on your car?

1bar?? my car with hot engine has around 2.7 bar at iddle with Castrol 10W60 Edge special for BMW M series...

this is normal for 10-60 , but now I have 10-40 and 1bar at hot idle is normal too..

next month I have to change the oil and I will go for MOTUL 10-50 .. than the pressure will be 2 bar..
