    S2 Engine problem

    Hi all

I'm looking at a S2 Avant from 1995 (ABY engine) but it have an engine problem, it cuts out everytime you presses the gaspedal to quickly, I found a valve that seems to missing a hose, there 3 connections on the valve but only 2 hoses to it.

that connects at the back below the IM manifold and the intake pipe. I think it is a one way valve related to the carbon canister and the PCV system.

If you look the picture for a while you might notice a brake master cylinder and a brake fluid container. Take your time

I was going to ask the same question, thanks Gormie , also on my S2 (3b)that connection “valve”isn’t connected to a hose or pipe.

is LHD, left handed driving (or something like that)

Yes LHD = left hand drive

Do you have the same engine problem (engine cuts out) ?

No i dont really have an engine problem, I only have, in high revs, that it makes a heavy noise, i dont think thats normal. Sometimes it starts a bit more difficult when the engine has had a cool down period of an hour.

Ok, I could also tell the answer to the original question and not just be impertinent to Greg

On automatic aircon models there should be a black plastic pipe on the side entry of that check valve. Dunno if this applies only older style aircons and really don't have the energy to find out. However - seal it, otherwise you have a intake leak that doesn't really do good for mixture adjustment nor idling,

There are a hose on the "yellow" end of the valve + a hose on the underside of it but not on the "black" end, sorry I can't tell you more, the car is not mine (yet)

All right then. That should be connected to the intake manifold.

Hmmm... Could that be the reason to my "no-go" problems? Last time I did the pressure test, faint whistle came from that direction. What is that valve for?

It's a check valve so that no boost pressure can enter those two hoses - only vacuum.

But that valve is connected to intake manifold. So wouldn´t it be possible that the short 4mm hose from im to t-piece might be leaking and causing my problems?
