A sports cat is a small restriction and any restriction or damping of noise can be offset by ditching the centre box. At least with a sports cat it's all legal and will pass an MOT and roadside inspection, without the need to fit the cats back on each year... (or use an MOT tester who is willing to fiddle the test )
    hi Andy

in Spain i think the limit is 0.5 CO ..and i dd 0.49 or something like this... the last 3 years.

and lambda 1 is normal true?

Our tests and limits vary depending on age,

Limit for my 91 CQ20v is 3.5%, car tested at .65% without a cat.

Limit for my 94 Avant is .5%, car tested at 0.01% with a cat.

They also tested the high idle (~3000rpms) on the avant, limit was .3%, tested at 0.03%.

Both myself and David use bolt in cat replacement pipes, 20 minute job to fit them for testing, also keeps them nice and fresh in the shed for when there needed :mischeif:

Dunno about 'down south' but in the North - we have a wacky but great system on emissions... the MOT places decided it takes too long to do full CAT tests at fast idle etc... all they do is normal idle... and the spec for CO2 is 3.5% (maybe tighter on newer petrol cars) - hilariously high so you could pass without CATs on an S2/RS2 no problem.

    David,

Reliable 450-480 hp, with GT3071R-ish spool can be had from a HX35 Super profile with billet wheel and fairly small exhaust housing.
    To that a tubular manifold...

Or as far as bolt on solutions go - K26/K27. The GT3071R only has a large advantage power over the K26/K27 if you go 0.82 A/R... otherwise it's about the same with slightly quicker spool.

easy, because my engine works perfect and it is in the CO laws tolerance, just perfect, without any cats, only straight 3" pipe. and i got my 80 competition rounded cat welded out....only as figure, because inside it there is the straight pipe

I might be wrong here but fitting a stock airbox with the 3071 is somewhat tight, if it's possible at all. Worth thinking about this when choosing srtuff

I think I'd also go for a custom 3" DP and 100cpi sports cat on your setup and a Wagner RS2 Evo EM. The reverse inlet has its own IC - it's not the RS2 Evo item.

k26/27 could be your friend for 400/440 hp,with stock oil /water lines

@Dave - ask diesel des for the spec he has on his 2871R - that thing blows like mad for 400bhp and it didnt surge on AAN camshafts. I already have a good baseline turbo chip for that to go nicely - then it's a matter of checking afr, egt and that she doesnt knock on quality irish petrol (not).

Just to add to the mix.. had a good read of this today:

    Borg Warner EFR Technical Brief

Look good, expensive though - who's going to pioneer one of these then?

What it got me thinking about though, is if a hybrid can be made utilising the ETT compressor wheels? I'm thinking the K24-7400 but a size up. The "Airwerks S200SX-50" seems to be such a thing, not water cooled though and with a T3 flange. I'm wondering if a hybrid can be built utilising a 'stock fit' water-cooled centre housing (like my soon to be retired K26/7 hrbrid).

Otherwise, I think - like above - it's an 'RS2+' hybrid for me; easy to fit and suited for the engine, no surge issues, exhaust mods or club hammering the chassis to fit the hotside...
