what do you think of using an industrial oil/air separator like the ones you use on an air compressor? glass bottle, fittings on top with filter inside, drain in bottom.

or is there a better design? spent some hours yesterday searching for the ultimate oil separator design and i guess theres a reason why painters etc use the "bottle" type.

drawings and ideas would be nice if someone got

got pics of it? i dont have plenty of room either, i have an urquattro with aan.

my plan was to fabricate it myself, just made myself some diff/gearboxmounts, why buy when you can struggle for hours making it yourself

but whats the price? euros or dollars is easiest to understand

              here it is

EFI Motorsport is a company dedicated to providing quality upgrade parts, hardware, software, tuning, and service for a range of European vehicles.

thats where i bought it from
the only thing i have done to it is remove one check valve membrane that it has on the outlet, as it wouldnt work with our engines. Unfortunately i dont know where i have placed it. The bottle itself should work fine, but only in combination with a second tank i believe. Some say that it works fine on its own, but i never used it due to lack of space.

how big is that thing? and is it the filter maker MANN that does them really?

why doesnt the membrane work with our engines?

cause it closes when on vaccum and that exit goes to the turbo which is always under vaccum

am i getting this right? the membrane valve is connected to the inlet of the turbo and blocks off when on vacuum? why would they do such a valve when you want vaccum in the crank? why would they use a valve that blocks vaccum?

because it may have been meant to work on non turbocharged engines.OR in a different manner. BUt that exit on the bottle, once you applied any vaccum to it above a certain point, it blocked, so i removed it.

did it work? havent read so much about the provent, but will it work?
maybe you can link to some threads about it?

noone has ever used it yet on our engines. I was told by Marc(efiexpress) that it should work adequately on it's own,but when you are burnt in a problem you tend to overcorrect, so i was going for 2 tanks. Eventually lack of space meant that its now on sale. Maybe i could use it once i take off the hydraulic brake servo and create more room, but i doubt it, as my system now works.

take a look at this one:

the provent 200 has a limit of 335 hp....

provent 400 makes it up to 670hp.. so i guess you need a 400, but 160mm in diameter and 301mm tall, quite big

Oh yes, i knew that and initially wanted to use 2x200 provents in line, as the 400 ... you need to put it in the trunk! its way too big! haha

eventualy that 200 didnt fit, by a small margin though, but didnt.

ok.. now im thinking of installing a vacuumpump also, but cant find a suitable one, volvo 850 has an airpump that should handle the flow, but does it work with oil fumes and create vacuum?

and how do you install an electrical one, you want the vacuum to follow the revs, so that you dont get to much vacuum on idle and not too little on WOT..

any ideas on a suitable one?
