Fixed it!!

I have had this whistling leek on the exhaust side for some time now, was damned if i could find it....

Anyway i made a smoke pressure tester, and hey presto found it straight away. It was the bottom bolt that holds the turbine housing to the bearing body on the turbo.

Had to be the most difficult one to get at, hidden behind the oil return flange...

Any way all sorted and as quiet as a mouse, there was me thinking it was a cracked manifold...:corey:

Just found a similar leak on mine, found with good old soapy water sprayed on the turbo while pressurising it.

How did you make the smoke tester? Mark used one when he did mine and it was very useful so I looked it up when I got home, it was £800

I welded up an 8" cube and welded a screw on lid on one side. I then welded two male push fit connectors to place it in line on the compressor hose.

Lit a smoke pellet (what you use for testing flues for leaks) and dropped it in the cube screwed the lid on and turned up the pressure, hey presto...!

The pellet only burns for 40 seconds but it leaves plenty of smoke behind..

Sorry no..... my kids borrowed my camera and have some how made it vanish.. Not sure pictures would give you anymore in truth. Its just a square box with a lid and two pipes sticking out either end...
