Hi all, hope you are all well...

Situation is as such.. All belts changed, both rads changed.. Drove out of garage car died (a big 'I told you so' from s2tornado-granted lol) ok so I removed fuel pump, got a new one from Gsf for about 50pounds car drove for 20 miles stopped in traffic and it died again!- won't start back at square 1. Didn't have many tools but managed to Strip fuel tank and the fuel was really warm! Im hoping that this was a duff part from Gsf?!

A friend of mine had a similar problem a couple years ago and the new fuel pump lasted a few days!

As always your thoughts and ideas would be most appreciated!

    Thanks a lot

I havent read this entire thread as i really havent got the time, but ive had a similar problem with my ABY coupe a while ago, turned out to be caused by water in the passenger footwell had got into the wiring loom and corroded the wire that feeds power to the fuel pump, there was 12.5+ volts at the fuel pump terminal but obviously not enough current to actually power the pump, might be worth checking the wiring in the passenger footwell if its ever been wet down there... its a green wire from memory

Also, have a look at the wiring diag for the fans http://www.s2central.net/S2_Schematics/B/B73-09.pdf

There are 3 relays running the different fan speeds, which one are you removing to stop the fan? Is it J26, the one in position 3? If so then this would appear to be operated by J155 in position 14. I think it probably is this one as the other 2 get their power from the Otter switch.

So maybe we have a problem with J155

I need a positive on this relay.. can you insert the relay with the cover off it, check that you can see the contacts actually close as it get power and check that you can make the fan stop by pulling the contacts open. Then we'll know that the relay is getting energised from somewhere and not just stuck closed.

Hmm, no it doesn't have ac

The fan comes on as soon as the battery is connected so no ignition etc without the key even being in the barrel -somewhat peculiar!

    No.

    Does the car have AC?

not trying to confuse you but i think its only the later aby's that has the thinner pump so check. the thinner one is about 1 inch or so diameter. the earlier 3b type pump is over two inch diameter. i'm not 100% but i think some earlier aby's have the bigger diam pump up to a certain year.
    physically check what you have!!
