This just made me think- my MAF is inside the wing with the air filter and a vw transporter vent has been put in place so could it be that ecu just doesn't like any disturbance in MAF - ecu circuit - because obviously some moisture and stuff gets in there...

You can check faults in most car garages, this is first you need to do.When you get faults then we can help you

The same can be done by switching ignition off and back on again.
Until the condition occurs again, which put it into limp mode in the first place, it won't happen again, and the fault will be stored as "intermittent".
If it does not go away when cycling ignition, it won't go away by clearing codes.
Plus, to clear codes it is sufficient to disconnect the battery for a second or unplug the ecu from it's connector and then plug it back again.Comment

Yes, it is good to always read the faults, but as I said, instead of clearing them you can just turn ignition off and on. They will be stored as intermittent if the cause is not present anymore.Comment
