The joys of owning a old Audi. fuel leak!

Found the old avant has a fuel leak. Not really looked properly but looks like the fuel tank.
If it is the fuel tank any suggestion on the best possible stuff to seal again. Other than getting a new tank. Probably like hens teeth now as its the quattro. And buying new well probably cost nore than the cars worth. Not a easy job either so I have been told.

I am sure there tanks are plastic. So there must be some sort of sealant, fibre glass. Guess brake cleaner will be ok to clean surface before working on.

And help or suggestion would be great. Help me keep this audi on the road.

Looks plastic but that was at night. Will get it up in the are later. Might be a fuel line but never going to be a easy fix.

Apparently soap will make a temporary repair, I know it doesn't sound likely, vintage bike wisdom

c3 is actually the same tank as a c4,there are differences with how the fuel pumps fit in(on petrol models) but as Craigs is a diesel that won't be an issue as the fuel pump is on the engine so could be an option.

spink can't I couldn't see the point where the leak is coming from as there is a heat shield covering it. where the middle 2 exhaust boxes sit.

I will see if I can retrieve it from the recesses of the garage and take some pics

Postage to Scotland is not going to be funny though

it will more than likely be leaking where they all go,quite close to the prop on the front edge of the tank.

                              Where did you hear that?
Soap disolves in petrol = something similar to what they used to use in incendiary weapons.

EDIT: Courtesy of the ww2 documentaries and future weapons series before i end up wearing an orange outfit and shackles.
