I'd say a bit of a hiss is normal, the fafafafa is not. These valves can rub against the chassis leg or something and get a hole worn in them or the diaphragm goes. You can check the diaphragm by pulling the vac tube off the manifold (on ABY it's the one at the front by the PS pump pulley) and sucking on it. It should hold vacuum.
You could also have a leak in that vac line. In fact if it hasn't already been done I would replace all the small gauge vac line under the bonnet with new stuff.
Bully, MRC recommend the standard type diaphragm diverter valve although I have run both Bailey and Forge as well as standard. The 710n from the S3 is an upgrade on the stock S2 valve. Be aware if you fit a Piston type it needs to be fitted the other way round. I remember which way they go by thinking of the Piston type as a dump valve and imagining which way it would fit if it didn't return to the face of the turbo. The 710n or stock diaphragm type fits the opposite way.
i'm getting to the point where i hope the car has a problem, or its just slower than wot i thought it would be, don't get me wrong its fast, just not neck snaping, i don't have anything to compare it with around here,
