Pressurize it in that case, everything.
Not only inlet to TB, make sure the entire manifold and all the little hoses are under pressure as well.

Should be borrowing a pressure test kit on monday to test that. After driving the car around for this week so far, i feel it quite suddenly hang back even on light throttle at about 3200 RPM. Could this still be a boost leak?

              Two other possibilities.
The first is the altitude sensor. I think you can check this via Vagcom on one or other of the channels. If its pegged at 968mbar or something its dead. That would have a small but perhaps noticable effect on the boost level. As I understand it within the boost profile there are maximum and minium levels sepending upon operating conditions.
The other is the ISV. Looks like quite a few are now leaking from the rear where the metal meets the plastic. An ugly but expedient solution being to epoxy the gap. I guess you could use soapy water, take it for a blast and see whether there are any bubbles.

At this rate it can’t be long before you come across the cause.

Keep the faith, hopefully you’re near the finishing line.

                  Kind regards. ...

Right! Pressurised everything! Checks out fine up to 1.2 bar. Car even feels slow and lethargic on light throttle. What sould the MAF readings be on full throttle????

                              Cam and Crank Timing Marks

I was away when I saw your first post on a hotel computer. I thought I had responded but apparently not.

Have you checked the cam to crank timing after the head job? My guess is you are out by one or two teeth. (I thought this even before you tried everything else).
