    RS2 non starter

i have a problem with my rs2, after a head rebuild i bolted everything back together but now the car wont start anymore. i allready replaced the G40 camsensor and the G28 engine speed sensor but the car still wont start. i have spark so i assume the signal from the g4, flywheel sensor and camsensor is good. during cranking i cant hear the fuel pump running, is checked the pf relay and changed it for a known good one but still no start. when i crank the car i can see the fp relay bridge the contacts but i dont hear the fuel pump, also when i bridge the contacts on the fp relay by hand i hear some noises at the engine but i dont hear the fuel pump. the fp fuse is also good.

does anyone have any idea what could cause this ?

Sorry but some parts of your story do NOT compute. You need to start by confirming 100% that the fuel pump is working. Break the fuel line at the fuel filter (or somewhere more convenient) and apply 12V to the fuel pump and see if it works, as per the suggestions in this document:

Then come back with the results. Be careful.

RS2 no URS4, the fuel filter is under the car on the tank. Not easy to mess with

Well suggest to him where he can break the fuel line, e.g. at the fire wall, before the fuel rail (which is what the test in the pdf suggests).

If you bridge the fuel pump relay with the ignition on then the fuel pump should run.

So either your fuel pump is broken.
Or you have a wiring fault to it.
Or you have an aftermarket alarm immobiliser that has developed a fault on the fuel pump cut off circuit.

You're not getting it. Running does not necessarily mean working (as in actually pumping gasoline). You should do a flow test (see the pdf link I gave you)

since you just put the head back on the motor, timing is always a crucial part of the engine running, did you install the head at TDC, did you confirm all markings especially the flywheel mark?

i understand. but if i let someone else crank the car, and then listen to the fuel pump i cant hear the fuel pump. so it cant pump fuel when i crank it.

timing is checked and is 1/2 a tooth off to the left, compression on all cylinders is good, 165 psi

the car has an original immobilizer, when i put the car on contact i see an orange key light up on the dash and that light goes out after a couple of seconds. so i think it cant be an immobilizer problem. i also changed the ecu but still no start

So did you check the plugs. I know of at least three people who connected them the wrong way around

Read my lips: A running/buzzing fuel pump DOES NOT MEAN IT IS PUMPING!!

All it means is the pump is spinning. Plenty of people have installed pumps with the wiring backwards or the shipping cap still on the inlet end and then wonder why their pumps don't work. "I hear it running, why doesn't my car start?" I am not saying this is your problem per se. I am saying you have to conclusively prove that the spinning pump is actually pumping gasoline and creating fuel pressure at the fuel rail.
