What do you mean by that? It takes less than half a second to down-shift while throttle blip matching the revs.
In every case if you want to be *faster* you have to downshift.

I don't know, I don't like driving cars in a lazy way. Why lug the engine in 6th when you can downshift and get much more instant torque.
My RS4 has tons of torque and I would never have to downshift, but I always do because it's more fun...

To each his own. That's why I said at the very beginning, that the only time the 0.82 is slower is when the driver does not shift. And I agree, it's slower - but for me winning a "who lugs their engine in 6th contest" is not interesting.
I personally think that with a GT30R this 0.63 argument falls flat on it's face. It is a completely different story with the G35R where there are valid reasons to go 0.63...

As you said. To each on their own. Tuning cars is not only for track. On everyday use you cannot downshift all the time. If I can put my foot half down have no lag and get the car going rather than downshifting and having to rev the car to 6500+rpm to always be in the powerband, thank you very much. Ill pass.

So every1 reading the thread, this is not about what prj or myself or whoever else tells you what to do, its what YOU want to have the car to do for you. So choose wisely!

Who said anything about track? Re-read what I said about downshifting in my RS4.
Different people drive differently. For me it's only important that at any point I can be in the power band through a down shift.
You seem to drive your car differently, and it suits you better - fair play.

This all comes down to driving style, and what fits your driving style. Arguing about it is stupid, because it's like telling someone their driving style is "wrong". No, it's not "wrong", it's just different than what you are used to.

Realistically 0.82 A/R will give you 500hp with safe EGT and less surge problems. 0.63 pretty much requires a ported head, and you won't quite make reliable 500hp, but you can overtake in 6th without downshifting on the motorway.
I think all has been said

I define a turbo that is "too big" for daily drive, when you can not shift from 1st to 2nd without ending up in a lag hole when not using flatshift. You will not have this problem on the 0.82 and you will not have this problem on the 0.63 either.

Guess it depends how you drive but I have 8 pot B7 RS4 fronts and B7 S4 rear upgrade rears and I'd not want to have less.

It's pretty much the question of whether you can go from 1st to 2nd without dropping into a lag hole. You can on the 0.63 version of the 35R, but you can not on the 0.82 version...

On a 35R with 0.82 A/R this won't work because it does not come fully on boost in first gear.
30R with 0.82 A/R is much faster in first gear than 35R with same A/R.

Actually 30R, if you don't use antilag is faster until about 100 kph. And then 35R car says goodbye...
This is what I mean by "too big turbo for street" also. When a stock car with K24 7000 whoops you off the lights, you know your turbo is too big.
You might have 600hp, but impossible to use it outside a drag race, or look like a complete idiot sitting at the lights with your launch control going. And if you don't, a 280hp car with the same engine is quicker than you to 50kph... and higher than that is illegal anyway.
