    turbo "thinks" too long"

I'm a rather new S2 owner and don't know much about it. According to previous owner it should have 246 kW. I don't know what have been done with the engine to get this power. The problem is that when I hit the gas pedal then it takes 2-4 seconds when the turbo kicks in. All I have noticed is that the wastegate makes really loud noise during gear change.

What should I look for to see where the engine modifications have been done? For example where is the ECU hidden (3B)?
Can I reprogram the ECU (if it hasn't yet) without knowing what other modifications have been done?

This is not the wastegate but rather the bypass valve.

The ECU is behind the glovebox.

No, you can't just reprogram the ECU like that, if it were so easy there wouldn't be specialized tuners and I wouldn't be one of them Furthermore, no engine mods can be carried out on an S2 without appropriate reprogramming of the ECU, just because the ECU has safety features built-in and it won't tolerate increased boost or whatever, except if one tricks it with black boxes which are the worst thing one could do in order to tune his engine. My advice? Depending on where you are located, have the car inspected either by Paul or by someone who has enough knowledge of it, S2 repairs get very expeinsive if you don't know what and how to do it, especially in the quest for more HP. Where are you located BTW? It kind of helps if you fill in your profile

      To Mihnea:

      Thanks for the information.
I now updated my profile. I'm located in Estonia.
Do you have any idea why the turbo takes so much time to activate.

246 Kw is a pretty high output: ~ 335 Hp.
To obtain such a power (given it is real) previous owner must have not only reprogrammed the ECU but must have at least upgraded the turbocharger.
I would suggest you first take a look to your turbocharger: try to read the label on the cold side housing to see code numbers. Then, if car really has the kind of output claimed, with a larger turbine sounds pretty normal to me it takes 2-3 seconds to bild up max boost from zero.
On full throttle and boost, when changing gear at resonable speed, you should get full boost again quicker than that (lets say 1-2 seconds), but if you press full throttle while cruising, expecially if you are in the <3.500 rpm range, you cannot expect immediate throttle responce.

I think it has this power because I have driven 280 km/h with it and dragraced a new Porsche Carrera 4S easily. I will check the turbo label and the ECU (if it has ever been opened).

I now got the number from my turbo. It's 5326 101 5160. Well, is it stock or not?

No it's not. Original one should start with "5224...".
Yours may well be an RS2 k26 7200.
So claimed power is actually credible.

Thanks, it's a good start me to learn my car. Is it needed to reprogram the ECU when RS2 turbo is installed?
I think that it’s harder to check if there are any RS2 parts inside the engine.
What other parts can I look for that may not be original and are installed for higher output?

How to reduce the turbo lag? I read somewhere here that one possibility is to put ceramic ball bearings in turbo? Its pretty dangerous me to drive hard when the turbo kicks in so late. I haven't used to turbo engines.
